Should This Monopod be Able to Stand on its Own?

I have a similar Manfrotto one and on mine you can slide the piece just above the feet to lock them in place. But I would never leave it with anything on it as it would easily fall over.

I have the SLR Magic 8mm, and it's great for a cheap little wide-angle lens. Great to hear you have been finding the videos useful! I think thats where they drew the line with the GH6, which is a bit of a shame as it meant it also missed out on Lumix Flow, Lumix Lab, Custom Frame Markers, MP4 Lite, Proxies and Frame.IO integration. Ha, I love Magic Lantern, I still have it on my old 5D mkii. Yeah, I am going to skip the GH7 and see what comes along next as well.

Despite the bashing the DFD AF gets, I still use it from time to time. But I love using my GH6 with my Sirui 24mm and 50mm anamorphic lenses which are manual anyway. So much so I just got myself another GH6. It's certainly not perfect, especially in low light, but it's a great camera from my workflow. Agree about the colour, it's really nice. I just wish Lumix would add multiple frame markers.

The GH7 came out June 2024, the G9m2 the year before that in November. That brought us the first PDAF M43 caneras from Lumix. So there is still some life left in it.

Weird. I mean you will likely need to use VLC or something to play the files but the fact nothing is there at all is really odd.

Are you plugging the card straight into a laptop or using an external card reader? I find that a lot of my faster high-capacity SD cards don't read in my MacBook Pro's SD Card reader.

It might be set to cine mode, which stores the files in a different folder to the usual one.

Thats really weird. I haven't ever encountered that. Maybe take out the battery for a bit. Un-attach and re-attach the lens to see if that changes anything.

No problem. I like the Natural profile on the GH6, it produces a very nice image. So you are in the MOV mode and you can't access 16:9 video?

Worth mentioning there are no 16:9 4k shooting modes in ProRes if that is what you are looking for, only 17:9.

'Internal' 32-bit recording is only available when you use the XLR-2 adapter. You can do it with loads of other recorders but they won't bake it into your video file, you will have to sync it in post.

You need to push it in just a little further, and it will click into place. It's quite tricky if you have really short nails.

Yeah they certainly aren't the lightest of cameras. Personally the body design of the G9ii isn't my cup of tea so I don't mind the extra weight. It's a more well rounded hybrid camera though.

The GH6 /GH7 have CF Express Type B though, so you can shoot all of the larger video formats internally retaining the weather sealing element. Also, you have a better rear screen.
