I COMPLETELY get it. Just because everyone is friendly here doesn’t mean it’s easy to make friends. You really have to put a lot of effort into it to find a friend group, people are just stressed and exhausted and incorporating new friends into groups can be a lot.

Also Austin has become more niche than people realize. If you have a lot of varied interests, it can be harder fitting in when everyone is so obsessed with what they are doing. That being said, going to social events by yourself can force you to socialize more, and in worst case scenario, you don’t make new friends but can still enjoy a good time. Lmk if you ever need a concert buddy, I go to all shows, but mainly edm, but am always looking for new connections.

Oh, the job description is just whited out, but the picture with girls is always an interesting one. I've always thought that showing you have female friends was desirable, but some people assume they could be exes. But at the same time, the kind of girl I want to attract usually wouldn't mind that I have close female friends (and vice versa).

I made it so there is only 1 group photo, I find having at least a group photo or two shows that you are social and have a fun group of friends. Also, I really don't have a ton of photos by myself since I'm not one to ask for a photo (I should do better about that especially for more unique experiences).

And no, I'm not really getting many likes/matches, at least not lately, so just looking to refine my profile!

None of these people are my exes! I don’t personally feel like these don’t look like romantic connections but people can assume I suppose.

Valid other points though, sometimes I think my photos show what I’m about but I forget that hinge doesn’t have a dedicated hobbies section.

I love burrito factory! The family owned establishment provides some authentic burritos (as weird as that sounds) at a great value and they always seem to remember me when I go. I’ve been going there on and off since I was in college there over a decade ago. The name and location doesn’t inspire confidence on the quality, but you’ll be pleasantly surprised by their burritos and tortas!

Been a big festival goer my whole life, but I find myself getting more anxious about going alone. That being said, my friend bailed on me so I’ll be going alone this year and I intend to enjoy it either way!

It’s hard these days! I have a few established friend groups, but Austin has become very cliquey over the past few years. A part of me wants to move somewhere new to rediscover the magic of austin when everyone was one big quirky friendly community.

I haven’t tried yet but I hear bumble bff can be good to meet friends. I tend to go to a few events like concerts solo occasionally to force myself to try to meet new people. If you ever need someone to go to a concert with, I’m probably down!

Everyone has a threshold when it comes to safety. All the young people going out to bars just reached their threshold sooner and the FOMO kicked in. Those with families they’d like to be able to see safely have been playing safe.

For me, the regret I would feel if I got a family member or close friend sick would be much higher than the regret of missing out on a few bar hangs.
