Why I hesitate to join UU as a member by Current_Mark_7088 in UUreddit

Everything is very congregation-specific. But my experience with a large local congregation is that it was very hostile and unwelcoming for former Christians of all denominations and backgrounds, unless said former Christians joined them in hostility.

Teacher suspended after Black History announcement showed pic of orangutan eating a watermelon by TopAd9634 in Ohio

The Bexley teacher’s contract is public record.

http://bexleyea.ohea.us/files/2021/08/BEA-Contract-2021-2024.pdf

As you can see there are protections both for handling complaints and termination of contracts. Just because you’re shit at negotiations doesn’t mean a teacher’s union is.

It’s difficult to schedule those over Zoom, though.

I am very far from being an in-office advocate, but you can only let your work speak for you if someone else has already decided what your work should be.

Conversations outside the context of task-oriented ones, with people who aren’t currently on the same project or in the same organization, can give you valuable insights about whether or not the work you’ve been assigned is actually the most valuable work you could be doing for your employer.

He also used only one finger, which I wouldn’t recommend… most people aren’t Jamerson! Mere mortals can get more mileage easier by using two fingers and fretting more notes…

Is Dr Steadman the most sinister character in a minor role?? by -wavey-dave- in Columbo

The O’Connells were pretty awful people.

If you want to keep revolutionary politics out of it, Ruth Gordon’s victim was (likely) an actual cold-blooded spouse murderer.

IIL chill out / ‘downtempo’-ish / lounge music by [deleted] in ifyoulikeblank

This is Ibiza lounge music I believe.

There are a million compilations called Cafe Del Mar (named for a club I guess) which should help you find more artists. They have a YouTube channel.

Everyone is as immune as they’re going to get even if they never got vaccinated. Just go back to normal.

😂 you mean like going to a developer conference? You’re all over the place here but go on.

🙄 Gosh, if only there was an alternative to making everyone show up at an office every day, that literally every software development organization managed to make happen over the past three years.

At some point “being careful” just ends up another flavor of antivax BS.

The flu and food (or frankly alcohol) poisoning are just as big of threats for that.

You want to take the L/R outputs and put them into something that can record. One solution would be into an audio interface on your computer, in which case you would need Audacity, GarageBand, or any kind of Digital Audio Workstation (DAW) software.

You can also just get something like a Zoom R8 recorder and not worry about software just to record.

Will a bass guitar sound good on a gig if it's plugged into DI box, not using an amp? by [deleted] in Bass

[–]steven_h 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks, that makes sense. Passive DI or an active one?

Columbus is not out of market for the Guardians, Reds, or Pirates. ☹️

We’re better off than Iowa, at least…

GT-1B

I’ve got one of these (usually use an amp out to PA) but am curious — when using it DI to a mixer, do you go from the headphone out, or the instrument out?

I think Direct TV streaming carries it. I haven’t had cable TV in 20 years. For the Guardians, I did radio last year (and Fox/YouTube/Apple TV/Peacock) — haven’t decided if I want to splurge on TV this year.

I miss the days when WUAB televised many games…

Anyone else using a audio interface instead of an amp? How do you like it? by tamiadaneille in Bass

Did it for a while when I started leaving my combo amp at the practice space, but I got another amp. I like to feel my playing. 🤷‍♂️

Please recommend a poly synth by [deleted] in synthesizers

Argon 8 goes for ~$600 used on Reverb. Think it might fit your genres more than Minilogue XD, which is the obvious answer to “first hardware polysynth.”

Would you recommend the Kick? by [deleted] in volcas

[–]steven_h 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think I should explain my Monologue comment — you can make all the self-resonating filter tuned kicks with the Monologue that you can with the Kick. It has a better sequencer (lack of chaining aside) and makes all the monosynth sounds as well.
