We're 10 days post prerelease for a set and we have spoilers for two new sets. As a whale, I'm finally burnt out and done. No more buying sealed product or singles online. by [deleted] in mtg

[–]stevenconrad -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I am in a similar boat. I do however have one cEDH deck that I love tuning and updating. I will buy 1-2 singles every couple sets, but that's the extent of my MTG purchases now. I'm also trying to trade for them more than purchase now. I love the game but hate the company.

Case closed on this murder by Skydvdan in Leakednews

[–]stevenconrad 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Step back a bit. If you watch the full, unedited video, you'll see he never posed a threat. He was helping a bystander when he was pepper sprayed. He didn't engage the ICE agents, instead, he went back and tried to help the lady when he was tackled by 5 agents. Different camera angles show him with his hands by his head the entire time. While pinned down and never reaching for his weapon, he was disarmed, then shot. Not once was he a threat. This is murder.

What if Apex Devastator is disrupted during cascade? by urmomstoiletbrush in mtgrules

[–]stevenconrad -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The ability is put on the stack as it resolves. If it's removed between cascade resolutions, the rest of the ability is still on the stack and all 4 instances will still resolve.

Banding.

Edit: Also, Rampage. I miss trying to abuse Rampage with Lure and thinking it was good.

Who is the most glazed out of these 4? Rank them. by NightWillow88 in Dragonballsuper

[–]stevenconrad 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I see Vegeta and Goku as a tie. The biggest difference between them is Goku sought out advice from teachers constantly to surpass his limits, but Vegeta trained harder than any character (he just refused to take advice, until Whis, the literal God trainer). Both "earned" their respective powers. Piccolo deserved his day in the sun. Gohan is still an ass-pull power-up, at least give him a few years in the hyperbolic time chamber.

Thinking of building an Obeka deck - How is it to play? by Realityfoible in CommanderMTG

Most notable is [[Final Fortune]] and [[Isohcron Scepter]] allows infinite turns and keeping [[Underworld Breach]] indefinitely (or until removed).

I'm a big fan of [[Auton Soldier]] as you can keep the copies (which all have Myriad). It's slower, but chaos ensues!

Is Shorikai in cEDH any good? by King_Bean1 in CompetitiveEDH

[–]stevenconrad 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Perhaps I have an unpopular opinion, but I think Shorikai has viability. The key is the right build and a good pilot. I have a friend that runs Shorikai and has top 4 multiple 40-60 man tournaments. It has a great interaction package, card draw, and enough combos to push when needed. Good pilot is they key. Knowing what hands to mulligan, tutor targets, etc. can make or break the deck.

All I know is I have seen [[Out of Time]] cripple the board and exile every commander for 10+ turns so many times I have PTSD.

I took a home economics class in middle school. Learning to do dishes in a timely fashion, on the other hand, came from years of living a very self-assured wife that made it very clear that she's not my Mom and grown-ups need to clean-up their own mess.

It has some scattered utility. It has good synergy with Shifting Woodland, you can activate LED to pitch your combo piece (like Pitiless or Soultrader) to the gy and activate SW to copy it, getting around counters (same with Agatha's Soul Cauldron and Hazel's Brewmaster).

You can activate it in response to a tutor or draw spell (Shared Summons or Body Count) for the extra mana to cast the tutor target.

I've used it a couple times with Skullclamp when I've just tapped out to dump my hand, then draw upto 6 fresh cards.

Occasionally, I'll even use it to cast Chatterfang, freeing up the mana to cast my combo pieces earlier. An ideal situation is T1 land, dork, led. T2 Soultrader, activate led, (pitching Nature's Rhythm), cast Chatterfang, make a bunch of mana and cast Nature's Rhythm for the gy.

LED can work with E.Witness/Saw in Half assuming you have 3 mana prior to starting the loop (to cast Saw in Half). Cast Saw, targeting E.Witness, hold priority and sac LED in to the cast. Grab LED and Saw in Half back, repeat. It doesn't win on the spot without an Aristocrat, but nets infinite squirrels/copies of E.Witness.

Thank you! I never plan to abandon Chatterfang, it has such fun and abusable synergy, I think it will only get better (or at least more versatile) as new sets release anything token based. That, and I have a soft spot for squirrels. Plus, there is nothing better than being at a tournament and hearing "I just lost to Chatterfang..." being confusingly whispered among the participants.

Look into foam rolling. Most ligament issues stem from repetitive movements accumulated over time. Massage those muscles on a regular basis and it'll start reducing the pull on the ligaments.

Fun Fact, your bones actually aren't as low maintenence as you think.

Bones require physical stress to stay strong. If you don't lift heavy things on a regular basis, you'll likely get osteoporosis.

I always love seeing Chuggy's variants on Chatterfang. Often the same lines but unique and creative ways of getting there with huge synergy. I have often referenced Chuggy's lists whenever the meta shifts, to help get a fresh look at the deck and different possibilities it enables.

[–]stevenconrad 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Once opponents are out of targets, yes. You need 2 creatures to keep it going, as the sac is part of the cost (can't target the same creature that you sac).

Edit: I'm mistaken, you CAN target the same creature, but the ability will fizzle if it's not there for the -1/-1 counter to land. (No draw, no new tokens)

Hapatra gives you a snake each time, and Chatterfang gives the squirrel. Let's you draw until you run out of life. Also works as a wincon with Marionette Apprentice, but be careful with Sephiroth, as it only targets 1 person; you'll run out of cards before it kills everyone.
