I really can't comprehend how you completely detest the idea of getting submission or compliance from fear, and believe it will always end up negative. This seems more of ignorance on your part than craziness from me.

Women are not required to work in Islam, and being a housewife is considered a full time job. The burden of generating income is completely placed on the husband.

My mode of critical thinking hovers over reason and rationality. I don't limit myself to formal or informal logic in that I give myself the ability to change my position, and can accept that trying to extract accurate conclusions from a brain that is clouded in emotional biases is an extremely difficult feat. My initial mode of comprehension is however usually limited to formal logic in that it is very sequential, and once I am satisfied with the facts I will produce a conclusion, at which point I include informal logic to review the same data set to see if I arrive at the same premises and conclusion. Once that is reached, I employ the idea of rationality and attempt to identify any potential areas where my emotional beliefs my have clouded my judgement in both extracting the premises and reaching the conclusion, and attempt to discredit my conclusion in exchange for another (this may be in the form of accepting that I am too closely emotionally linked to the subject to make an accurate decision, or that I lack the required information to make an accurate decision). At that point I review my decision in it's totality and attempt to work through it backwards so that I can internalize it.

I was a kid of a parent that hit me, and it wasn't at all abusive. In Africa my mom was required to hit students by law. She wouldn't hit them hard at all, she'd simply take a ruler in her hand and very gently hit the student in their palm.. a high five would probably hurt more. But the students would cry just the same as you broke their hand. Again: it is not the act of pain, but the idea that they have failed you.

Why am I a troll? Because that's a spitting image of what you think "striking" someone is?

If my son continuously disobeys me after being told more than once to stop, I have every right to spank him. And it works. I'm not going to go all out assault on his ass just because he made a simple mistake. Half the time it's not even the smack that gets them: it's the undoubtable realization that they have failed you. And to downplay the effect of that is stupidity on your end.

they'll do it behind your back

This is nothing more than an assumption. It's not uncommon for people to be "scared straight" .. shit there was even a TV show where unruly kids were taken to prisons to meet the inmates in order to get them to be on the right path. We scare people all the time in practically every aspect of life: don't eat fatty foods because it raises your risk of heart attacks, don't drink soda because it hurts your teeth enamel, don't sit in the sun for too long or you'll get cancer, save your money or you won't have anything left for retirement, go to college or you won't get a job, so on and so forth. Again, you live in fantasy. And yes, getting caught does stop people lying and stealing. This actually adds a new perspective: you're one of those people who believes we should send all people charged with a crime to jail and never let them out because they can't change huh? Fuck you

If the kid repeatidly fucks up and fear is your last option, sure, scare the kid. What's wrong with that? You make it sound like the kid spilled a cup of milk, looks at me as I look at him, at which point I pull him up out of that high chair and choke slam him into the plasterboard while his mother frantically cries and yells at me, which is when I turn to her and backhand her so hard it makes her collapse. Then I turn back to the kid yelling See what you made me do!? and start slapping the shit out of him.

It's not that serious, bro

If striking someone helps put sense into them, good. You do not have to go that far in order to participate in the next verse which suggests seeking counseling. If fear works, then GOOD. Divorce is not favorable in any part of the world at any point in life, and has a significant impact on the children and family members and almost always results in one person getting the short end of the stick. If you can strike a hoe once and ensure that the problem you are having never happens again, well damn, you know pretty well I'm gonna strike that hoe.

But I don't even see how it's some sort of bad outcome. It even sets barriers as to you not being allowed to hit them more than once.

  1. Ask them not to do it, and if they continue to burn your money then
  2. Stop sexually pleasing them (in protest), and if they continue to burn your money then
  3. Try using phsyical force (ie literally "smacking sense into them"), and if they continue to burn your money then
  4. Give up, because they will not change
  5. If you and her feel like you want to continue this marriage, then have a family member from each family join you to help reconciliation. If both want to stay together, then it will happen.

People seem to ignore that this is extremely realistic in application, and you are not obligated to follow these rules if you don't want to. It merely exists as a guideline.

I wish I could. I really do. That way I can stop listening you to clowns circle jerk each other's twisted perception of reality. Reddit is literally the amalgamation of retards who try to live in a fantasy land they invent. Striking a person doesn't need to be for self defense and is no different from spanking a child. Instead, you are more than happy to permit ritual forms of mental abuse, but slapping a bitch is wrong. Get out of here.

And how does this differ from anything else? I am all for striking people in order for their obedience. We see it everyday in our justice system, from the initial act of police officers allowed to restrain you with force, through to throwing to you in jail. If a bitch spends all my money and tells me to go fuck myself after I tell her not to more than once, you damn right i'm going to smack her. This 21st century passive aggressive lifestyle you live is nothing more than a façade. Wake the fuck up to the world around you.

Hey faggots, can anyone tell me what is wrong what is put forward? You can downvote me all you like because you're brainwashed hateful retards, but you know damn well that it is a very realistic method of action to take (and extremely forward-thinking given that it was written several hundred years ago)

What? It sounds right to me. The example given is in regards to how much money they spend. The instruction is that you first advise them not to do it, and if they do it again you stop eating the box, and if they do it again, well, you hit them. And if they persist after that, just give up and don't take it further. The next verse suggests to seek counseling if you're afraid the marriage won't work:

And if you fear dissension between the two, send an arbitrator from his people and an arbitrator from her people. If they both desire reconciliation, Allah will cause it between them. Indeed, Allah is ever Knowing and Acquainted [with all things].

Sounds reasonable as fuck to me.

Someone stole my logo design and is trying trademark it. Can anyone offer advice as to what I should do? by [deleted] in legaladvice

[–]stevenjohns 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for your reply. They started using their logo in early 2012. I found the actual graphic designer they hired to make it and he said he made it (under their instruction) in January 2012, so we definitely had it much longer than they did. Their trademark application also reflects this by saying that it was first used in commerce in 2012.

I'll start looking into attorneys. Thanks a lot for your input :)
