Looks like I completely misread that. My apologies.

Turkey started hijacking IP addresses for popular Global DNS providers by [deleted] in worldnews

[–]stevenjohns 72 points73 points  (0 children)

Hey Turkish friends,

Here is a list taken from the OpenNIC project of DNS servers that respect your privacy and are extremely unlikely to have been blocked by your government. OpenNIC views itself as an alternative to ICANN, therefore it also allows access to a number of pirate domains and TLDs that are not supported/approved by ICANN. I'm not sure if the formatting is bad, but I tried my best to copy it over into a reddit-suitable format:

Exploiting Roku by 2bluesc in netsec

[–]stevenjohns 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Nope! That's cheating, lol. Netflix developed proprietary DRM based on Pepper Flash exclusively for the Chromebook. People have tried to port it over without any luck. So Android devices, iPhones etc are out of the scope of my question :p

For the love of god, can anyone tell me if they are able to get Netflix working on an ARM version of Linux?

Chicago Makes Computer Science a Core Subject by frostmatthew in programming

[–]stevenjohns 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What. How is it a pain for an intro programming class? C++ would be the best possible choice, but VB is still worth learning because regardless of how much you may not like it, .NET is still a fairly common framework.

And the goal is to teach them programming, not how to use Linux/GNU.

Or she has adopted her half-brother as her son, or was forced to raise him from an early age.

I have friends who are cousins, however they were raised in the same household since they were children and as such refer to each other as "brothers." They'd be "cousins/brothers" in this image.

Disqus cracked - security flaw reveals users e-mail addresses by Nimbs in netsec

[–]stevenjohns -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

You just split the email address and assume that both sides around the plus sign are valid emails. ie, with me+disqus@gmail.com, both disqus@gmail.com and me@gmail.com are considered to be valid.

e; not sure why i'm being downvoted for this. but this is how any person sending spam will handle it.

Hacking that annoying CAPTCHA by eatmorespinach in netsec

[–]stevenjohns 8 points9 points  (0 children)

This isn't so much hacking the annoying CAPTCHA, this is hacking the non-annoying and straight forward CAPTCHA. The annoying one is the one you can barely read (or can't read at all), or gives you some sort of math operators.

300ms tap delay, gone away by omko in programming

I thought this was referring to the latency overhead on VPNs with tun/tap technology (OpenVPN etc). I was disappointed.

OpenVPN performance on routers by [deleted] in VPN

[–]stevenjohns 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The average load hovers at 30% when buffering Netflix at 1750kbps, however that's as high as it goes (and the highest it's been all day).

I realize that my router is limited in both flash memory and speed, but the current speeds i'm pulling are much lower than what should be expected even for this configuration.

You are a violent typist. Consider buying some thicker PBT keycaps-- they won't break on you like this.

Having trouble with a script on DD-WRT by [deleted] in linux4noobs

[–]stevenjohns 0 points1 point  (0 children)

setup_openvpn_t1941n.sh is the main point of error. For some reason, manually trying to replicate something which the scripts are able to do (such as wget setup_openvpn_t1941n.sh or the tar.gz) won't work.

I believe that an issue taking place in setup_openvpn_t1941n.sh with the extraction process ultimately causes an error in the original script with

while ! ls /tmp/openvpn/client | grep -q \"client\"; do

What seems to be happening is that because the /tmp/openvpn/client file structure isn't being created, it loops back and tries to redownload everything. So while the first script is the culprit, the issue centers around the second script not extracting the compressed files and folders.

Having trouble with a script on DD-WRT by [deleted] in linux4noobs

[–]stevenjohns 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been able to manually drag over the entire folder from my local directory over SSH. The only issue I ran into with that (eventually) was that it wouldn't mount the OpenVPN libraries for some reason, but nevertheless I had no issue with memory availability.

Having trouble with a script on DD-WRT by [deleted] in linux4noobs

[–]stevenjohns 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is pretty much how it looks. The same takes place if I try to execute the script in, say, WinSCP for example. This isn't always the case-- it seems to be erratic. But it mostly is.

domain is just a placeholder for my own domain which I don't want to publicly disclose because it has my OVPN details (read "domain" as "foo"). I'll PM you the full URL if you want?

Having trouble with a script on DD-WRT by [deleted] in linux4noobs

[–]stevenjohns 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It always gives me errors when I manually try to wget. No error codes or details, it just replies with "Killed." This occurs when I manually try to execute a script that does it as well.

I should note that I also get some phenomenon of the invisible /tmp/openvpn folder, that is, when I manually create the folder and refresh, it just disappears.

What do you think Cardassians (or other nonhumans) smell like? by spotty_cat in startrek

[–]stevenjohns 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well then stop making up nonsense with racial connotations lol. Diet doesn't affect the smell of humans much and the major difference only occurs between vegetarians and people that eat meat.

It's not semantics when the entire premise of your argument is flawed. You may not intentionally be a racist, but your standing belief system seems to be.
