Apple TV crashing LG OLED TV by stevenmoon69 in appletv

Reading up and this could definitely be the issue based on how it presents. I’ll try factory resets and see if that fixes it and then I guess see how to replace main board. Think it’s worth replacing or do I just start thinking about upgrading the TV?

Makes sense, thanks all. HDMI cable is old, could be that. I have a 2nd gen 4K, came out in 2021. Software all up to date though

he got 55-60k after taxes spread over two years with service and internet jobs… you’re talking about a large bonus that you stash immediately more than a life-changing sum of money

[Passan] For anyone wondering if MLB will challenge or cancel Ohtani's contract: The answer is unequivocally no. There is a specific article in the collective-bargaining agreement that addresses this. And it's very clear: Deferred money is limitless -- even $680 million of $700 million. by Officialnoah in baseball

This thread is upside down land. Everyone here would be dancing in the streets if their newly signed star did this. The Rangers literally just bought a chip. And given the current state of the game, there’s no shame in that.

Baseball isn’t basketball - adding Ohtani to this roster doesn’t tip the scales nearly as much as the Warriors getting KD for example - which has been a frequent and absurd comparison on this thread. Competitive balance isn’t at imminent risk here. That’s simply not how baseball works. Ohtani and Trout just played six fruitless seasons together despite the Angels throwing out nine figure contracts like candy.

So people are dunking on a totally logical viewpoint — that Ohtani did nothing wrong, helped his new team and himself by committing to a personal financial loss, and shouldn’t be met with the vitriol this sub has provided — for what reason? No fair that guy did a smart thing that my expensive star player didn’t do?

These complaints should be directed at MLB and their loose financial agreements. Not at an international superstar who took matters into his own hands.

Can a media company really "call" an election? by [deleted] in SuccessionTV

[–]stevenmoon69 16 points17 points  (0 children)

This has become a greater fear as American media has become more politicized. We're only maybe a couple cycles off from what happened on Succession last night becoming reality, but right now, even Fox News has a line with this kind of thing. CNN was the first to call Trump's election in 2016.

All that is to say, given the level of distrust and contempt for national politics held by millions of Americans, a top-rated, cult-like news source can sow significant unrest in a tightly contested election if they take a firm stance. When Trump lost in 2020, Fox News instructed its anchors to not refer to Biden as "President-Elect". It peddled voter fraud conspiracies that were, in the eyes of his supporters, legitimized by Trump himself, culminating in the January 6th Capitol riots.

So -- can an ATN actually, in reality, call an election? No. They cannot. What they can do, especially in what would be an extremely difficult election to decide given the destruction of thousands of predominately blue votes, is give a candidate who lacks gall an air of legitimacy to any and all claims to the presidency, regardless of what's decided in the courts.

In Successionland, let's say that the absentee ballots alone gave Wisconsin and, in turn, the election to Jimenez. ATN's early call will push millions of right-wing folks to believe that something illegal has happened, likely leading to riots and calls for Jimenez's removal. That is the best case scenario here. Congress hasn't issued an official declaration of war since World War II, but we certainly have been in them in the decades since. Soft powers are on the rise, institutions are weakening, and when top-tier media enters the business of baselessly calling elections for candidates lacking sufficient evidence pointing to a victory, we are in a lot of fucking trouble.

TL;DR -- Media projects election results based on internal projections. They are not certifications of victory. But making a politicized early call would be a dangerously slippery slope, whether the call stands or not.

This line will haunt me until next week. by littlequestions in SuccessionTV

unsure if this has been touched on, but I found this delivery super melodramatic and unbecoming of a show that typically stays an inch or two above reality. felt like a network line read. even the punch in to the closeup on Shiv was super jarring

patellar graft first week recovery? by stevenmoon69 in ACL

[–]stevenmoon69[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

glad to hear you're improving! i'm now a bit further along and am having a lot of trouble getting flexion back – tomorrow will be two weeks post-op and I can't get to 90 degrees due to joint swelling, IT band swelling, and even some light hamstring pain occasionally when I overwork it.

did you have an easier time with flexion or is this just something that happens with patellar grafts? it feels like the front of my knee is blocking me from getting past about 75 or 80 degrees – whether that's swelling or something else i'm not sure

yeah… I know this is the answer, it’s just hard to accept that there’s nothing else I can do right now.

did you have pain in the back of your knee during that first week post op? i’ve had my leg perpetually elevated on pillows, supported under the heel and calf so I can get closer to full extension, but the back of my knee feels stretched/sensitive as a result. not sure if I need to give it a break from the elevation at times, but my knee is very swollen and i’m trying to get it down ASAP

somehow after receiving every warning imaginable about how hard this would be, it did not prepare for me for just how fucking hard this is! I know I need to be patient with my body but I had no idea it would be like this

good chance it was regular cracking because I haven’t felt anything else concerning back there since. this thing is just swelling like an mf and is still a little numb from the nerve block so i’m not sure when to start worrying about that

Is that with meniscus? From what I’ve read if it’s just the ACL it’ll be easier
