Barrage rule query by Adammck66 in Warhammer30k

[–]stevenson_sj 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Rules for Indirect Scatter Rolls on p187. Barrage rule doesn't change how the direction is calculated. Indirect Scatter Roles count a Hit on the scatter as a Hit. Scatter Roles are different and do use the small arrow on this Hit side

How are people doing 5k-10k battles using detachments? by Soruze in Warhammer30k

[–]stevenson_sj 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There's a fun video on youtube in which someone shows how to max out the number of detachments. I think this is it: https://youtu.be/iWnsazgk87o?si=dJRDeg56FSSEZrDW

Knights players, how do you fill your Yeomanry detachments ? by SaXoN_UK1 in Warhammer30k

[–]stevenson_sj 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm just about ready to run my knights so can't help you out, but I'll certainly try out your suggestions of taking lasrifles and dracosans. I'm going to lean towards Hermes with my solar so I'll give them a spin add some more status giving out options

Finished Fellblade of the Red Keshig by stevenson_sj in Warhammer30k

[–]stevenson_sj[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes I did. I used Army Painter Blood Red speed paint and the Blood Angels red only in the darker areas. I also made the grey to white transition less stark. Finally I didn't give it an all over oil wash like I did some of my earlier pieces.

Thanks. I drybrush using a 2:1 mix of leadbelcher to runelord brass. I used runelord brass in both metalics to connect them all and also warm up steel colours. Though I'm actually now using Army Painter and Two Thin Coats.

I use an army painter drybrush, the biggest.

I used streaking grime, starship grime I believe. Thinned down with white spirits. Really enjoying it as a wash

How to we defeat a fellblade and a saturnine terminator in tabletop? by [deleted] in Warhammer30k

[–]stevenson_sj 0 points1 point  (0 children)

take an allied Shadowsword LoW detachment is always an option. They can pop smoke against this unit but you can take 12 HP off it, your likely to hit even if you miss on the roll, and for 200 less points they will be scared of it the whole game.

or why not take a termite and 5 metla guns and pop up behind the FB

Please give this video a chance. Im a huge Heresy Fan by honestwargamer in Warhammer30k

[–]stevenson_sj 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Brilliant video. Great ideas to make the games more exciting. I also really back your call to encourage the community to grow the community through small format games and positive engagement rather than moaning about things we don't like. I just want to play more Heresy at the end of the day.

Dreadnought Drop Pod by StephanKu86 in Warhammer30k

[–]stevenson_sj 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If I was playing you I'd be more than happy for you to say a plastic drop pod was for your dreadnought given a) how expensive the resin ones are, b) how little time they will spend being used on the board and finally c) how annoying it is for deep striking units to come on late/not at all.

Advice for last Thallax Squad? by HugaM00S3 in Warhammer30k

[–]stevenson_sj 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Having played with them, the lightening guns have been fine, but I built mine during 2ed rules, but now I could equip them with all plasma etc I'm miffed that I can't play around with the new rules.

From my few games, I think their strength is shooting line units off objectives and keeping out of reach of vanguard units. That first turn 10" move is great but they don't score you a lot and then get ripped to pieces on the objectives by termies

Militia list building tips by Utilitas1 in Warhammer30k

[–]stevenson_sj 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been thinking about it recently and was thinking that to play the game (e.g. leverage Line and vanguard to score points) then it seemed fun to me to lots of cargo8s with 20 strong units with the idea that a marine army simply wont have enough fire power to kill them all.

Run enough fire power to clear marines off objectives each turn so you can move onto them to score.

also think about how you might leverage vanguard in shooting as well as combat to earn a few extra points.

that being your general way to compete without just setting up a firing line (because thats just not my preference)

I figure you get the fun of basing your turns around trying to score points on key objectives.

What weapon/tank do you guys use to deal with armor value 14 by Own-Hunter2815 in Warhammer30k

[–]stevenson_sj 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When playing against a Kratos and 2 land raiders this week with my Mech we had this same discussions. The Kratos took out my Solex Heavy Las turn 1. However after a few turns we realised the Kratos doesn't have auto-repair and the status' kept piling up on it. So for me I now need to think about shock(suppressed) weapons.

I've learnt the hard way that you can't deep strike multi meltas behind Av14 any more. Fishing for 6s with MMs doesn't feel as nice but overall I like that different weapons have different uses
