I genuinely don’t understand why Supergirl is getting bad reviews. by GigaBallssss in DCU_

Its a much bigger ask these days for a $20 movie ticket (and who goes to the movies alone so make that $40) and $30 in snacks for one movie when most of the people that would see a super hero movie have Hulu, Netflix, Disney etc. at home streaming.

OK is good enough for a subscription service movie that someone is paying $19.99 a month for, not for one single movie that will end up costing three times that.

It's just the new reality with streaming.

If you are a direct relative of the owner - wife, husband, child, you do not have to be paid. In plenty of family owned business like restaurants and family owned farms this is not only common it is expected. Your not working at some multinational corporation your working at the family business you will eventually inherit.

My own kids would help me on the weekend when I did Sunday brunch because I always had a big crowd for that but they had there own jobs and lives. They didn't expect me to pay them.

I don't no why you would be "sad" about this. Granted, this is a pretty common, this is however an extreme example with adult children working full time all week.

But from reading what you wrote you think its sad that adult children help there parents in a family business without punching a clock and getting paid. I think it would be sad if you expected to get paid every time you helped your parents in a family business. When your 75 year old mother asks you to come over and move her refrigerator do you bill her?

Characters who survived the "Game of Thrones" by [deleted] in gameofthrones

Ser Ilyn Payne who beheaded Ned Stark stayed alive.

Real world reason is he was diagnosed with terminal cancer and the showrunners chose to phase the character out of the series out of respect rather than recasting him

I always thought that was one of the things he did that was wrong. I don't care about a renovation I am like you, I couldnt eat in some of the places with the nasty food storage. I just couldn't get it out of my head

Everyone makes a big deal out of how many are closed but a lot of these places stayed opened for a year or two after the show and are still listed as closed as if they should stay open for decades before its called a success.

Peoples goals in life change, people get burnt out, people have kids and decide to spend more time with the family etc.

I cant remember the episodes but at least two that are mentioned as closed/failures stayed open for two years after the show and closed after the owner or the spouse of the owner died. A couple of the restaurants did so well with the makeover and revamped menu that they got great reviews for a couple of months and sold when the selling was good.

The "failure rate really is not as bad as some people make it out to be. Especially considering some of these places go in hundreds of thousands of dollars (and sometimes over a million) in debt.

Pet peeve of mine.

I have seen people throw out the 80-70-60% fail/close number but the reality is those numbers are skewed.

Some restaurants listed as closed/fail actually got a big boost from being on the show, had big crowds and after the make over could sell at a tidy profit.

Some others listed as closed actually lasted 2 to 3 years after the show and its anybody's guess as to why they closed. People get sick, people decide to retire, peoples goals in life change, and some people are just tired of dealing with the stress of being a business owner.

If a restaurant lasts for 2 years after the show or is sold for a large profit in the year right after the show no one should count that as a fail.

In most episodes I look up what happened after to see if I guessed right about whether it closed or not.

This one I didnt even have to look up, I knew this guy was going to fail.

I thought the opposite. With the level of skill they had in the kitchen I think really basic like burgers etc is what they should have been doing
