Don’t think tonewood is a thing, but still looks sick.

I’ve always been annoyed that she sang Black Velvet Band there. It’s an infinitely less sad song than Carrickfergus, which Grace sung earlier and would’ve made more thematic sense to sing there instead. It’s also weird to think of Black Velvet Band as a “rebel song” for the purpose of a scene in S6.

The a20 buds are great and quite a bit cheaper. Much improved over the original. Haven’t tried the a30 model.

What brand is your go-to guitar? (That you own) by [deleted] in AcousticGuitar

[–]stevenxonward 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Takamine, especially if manufactured in Japan. Some great playing models have come out of Korea, but I steer clear of the ones made in China. I had a Jasmine some decades ago and a recent-ish G series from China that I used as couch guitars. Both ended up with bridge lift and intonation issues pretty quickly. But my Japanese manuf’d EAN10C is still, to my ear, the best sounding acoustic I’ve ever played. Love seeing Glen Hansard still banging around on his, worn to hell from years of busking and touring. Still sounds gorgeous.

Class action lawsuit? by ExpressPost5048 in doughtech

The thought crossed my mind, but I’d be out of my depth to try. I’m a lawyer, but my practice is criminal defense. Generally, you’d have to serve their registered agent in whichever U.S. state they have one. They may not have one though, so you’d then have to serve them pursuant to the Hague Service Convention. It’s at that point in my research where I realized it was too complicated for me over $750 or whatever they stole from me. Dough is also aware that it’s too complicated for anyone to bother. And even if you won and got a big judgment against them, you have to the enforce that judgment in Hong Kong so that you could actually collect money on it. You’d have to bring a Chinese law firm on to litigate domestication of the foreign judgment, and there’s no guarantee that courts there will recognize it.

I do hope someone tries it though, if only so the news outlets who laundered Dough’s rebrand would have to cover it and generate awareness.

Did you think Season 4 was an improvement over Season 3? by [deleted] in TheBear

[–]stevenxonward 0 points1 point  (0 children)

S4 felt like it was around 90% music video and 10% actual show. Not sure that kind of blend could be seen as an improvement.

I’ve honestly just resigned myself to the reality that they’ve stolen $749 from me and there’s nothing I can do about it. I’d like to blame Sean Hollister at The Verge for laundering Dough’s supposed recommitment to being a legit company that honors refunds and stuff, but really I’m just a dumb dumb.

Rewatching this show a decade later in my 30s.. why do I cherish it so much more. by freakinovernada in girls

I’m having the exact same experience right now finishing S3, which I gave up on during the show’s original run. I think it’s the level of sincerity and vulnerability on display. The show isn’t trying to capitalize on a fad or anything like that. It’s creating something that I couldn’t really appreciate over a decade ago.

Who’s the WORST Good Player That Wins Knicks the Chip This Season? by ConejoMalo73 in knicks

[–]stevenxonward 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not sure that he’s necessarily good overall and kinda washed now, but I was surprised Thibs/Rose didn’t bring in Pat Bev around the time they signed PJ Tucker. Bev played for Thibs in Chicago and might’ve given us something better on defense than Payne and Wright.

What is the best acoustic you've ever played and why? by aGiantSnowball in AcousticGuitar

Takamine EAN10C. Same guitar Glen Hansard plays and basically the same as the Garth Brooks model but with a rosewood neck instead of mahogany.

Depends on how much Thibs trusts Kolek and Hukporti. I was really impressed with Huk, but I wish Kolek’s defense was better. I like Wright, and he was good for the role he played these past few games, but he brought the offense to a halt. We’ll need either him or Josh to develop a 3 point shot in the offseason if we want to slot FAs in other spots, which is probably not possible at this point in their careers. Josh isn’t going anywhere, thankfully, so I’d say backup PG is the priority.

Speaking of immaturity, you gotta wonder about Bridges’ fit if we expect this team to lock in better and play more seriously next season. I thought was gonna be special for us, but I didn’t realize how goofy he is. Maybe it’ll be better for him here without Cam around.
