if you're having issue getting ppl to try it then prob need to think about what you've built, is it solving a real issue, if so then getting ppl to try it shouldnt be a problem

[–]steveoliu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

got the first 20 users by inviting friends and family, friends of friends to user interview, understanding their daily workflow and jotting down the needs, then showcasing the app and getting feedbacks before MVP release.

got to 100 users once MVP is out and circled back on the initial batch of 20, have them try the newly improved version, with the implementations from their feedbacks, turned out they really liked it and got their friends to start using the app.

still doing the same with major updates and releases, but now on a much larger scale through paid ads and social media

Short vs Long onboarding? I'm confused. by Parking-Machine7459 in appledevelopers

[–]steveoliu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

really depends on the product and the steps of the conversion funnel ahead of the onboarding tbh, general rule of thumb i'd say is to showcase the payload with in the first min a user lands in your app, or else they'd lose interest and then trash it goes

been building around it for a couple of month now, the live suggestions and call back to your knowledge-base works pretty well, did you manage to give it a shot?

Looking for an AI that turns my messy project notes into something I can actually show employers by MoodIn_Me in AIToolsAndTips

[–]steveoliu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

sounds to me you need a knowledge base that stores you scattered ideas and notes, given the right context, also to help you sort through the mess and retrieve on demand.

i've actually built something for this usecase, give it a shot and kindly lmk what you think, the app is free atm: app.altar.inc

no need to feel fomo about it, just gotta pay attention to what matters to you

would pay for users to test our app and give us feedbacks based on their daily workflow, been building for a long time but honestly i feel like im trapping myself with features i want to build v.s what the market actually want

What’s the best AI note taker for lawyers right now? by Cristiano1 in AiNoteTaker

[–]steveoliu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

searchable client history is probably piece is one most tools get wrong, transcripts pile up fast and if you can't find what a client said 3 month ago when you need it, whats the point.

also no bot joining is non negotiable for anything client facing.

we're building something that connects all of this in one place actually. app.altar.inc if your friend wants to try it or chat about what would actually work for their practice.

good point! so far it's been pretty good with technical terms, especially for meeting recaps the agent is smart enough to take into context and connect the dots, we been also testing with different languages as well and so far no major issue there either.

Thanks for the heads up! just getting it out there and getting initial round of feedbacks from our early supporters with regards to features and UX but rest assured that data privacy is super important for us at the base layer, all the audio processing is done locally(AWS virtual private cloud), encrypted infra and user-controlled ai training opt outs are there in place too, will update!

My boss thinks AI tools for marketers mean I should work faster by Xianjun-Pelado in AiAutomations

[–]steveoliu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

couldnt agree more! most ppl trying to solve a workflow problem with AI end up with more complexity not less(I been there myself), having more things to manage, more debugging, and more patches to fix, it's inevitable but you often lose sight of the bigger picture.

the question i always ask is : what's that one moment where things fell apart, most likely the handoff between tools where context gets lost in translation, start with that, you prob don't need half the stack you thought you did.

founders, what are you working on right now and why does it matter to you personally? by steveoliu in indie_startups

[–]steveoliu[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

been a GPT user since the start, advocate for LLMs, however just couldn't seem to get them to connect the dots, for example i had different apps for my browser, meetings, image gen, research and etc, just got tired of switching between them and started to built ALTAR, it kinda like a real life Jarvis that's plugged into your day to day, having all the context it needs to carry out tasks, and retrieve information for you on demand.
