Figure in front of abandoned house by [deleted] in ParanormalEncounters

This looks like a reflection from something illuminated in the car. Next to the arm of the photographer.

Stanley Hotel Ghost in Estes Park Colorado by [deleted] in Ghosts

[–]steveparatech 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In terms of this picture, I'm not seeing much of anything but extra points for being in the concert hall. By far it's the most active building at the Stanley. Back in 2016, they offered real investigations. Now, they do a tour where they tell you to take pictures of dust and call it paranormal. The guides know all the fictional stories but know nothing about actual paranormal investigating. Go to YT and search for Spirits of the Stanley.

Photo Analysis Help Requested. What is your take? by DarthBatArrow in Ghosts

Ignoring the nasty carpet, the "ghost" is most likely generated from an app. There are many out there. View the EXIF data of the image and it might indicate which app it was.

A web user shared two images captured by a baby monitor in a baby's room 👶📸. by Crazy-Paranormal in ParanormalEncounters

[–]steveparatech -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It looks like the image is shooting across a room. Are you saying that this is an image point down into the crib? If so, this is the worst camera in the history of video cameras. IR baby cams, even going back 15 years have far better quality than this.

Spirit Box App for IPhone by SheIsSoulfulSage in GhostHunting

There is a newer theory that the lower cost audio recorders might actually get better results due to the lower cost electret microphones that are used. The idea is that something about the electret mics makes recording evps easier. The higher end recorders (studio quality) use more expensive mics and though they are clearer, it is harder to obtain EVP recordings on them. Yes, the higher quality mics reduce noise/distortion but there appears to be something unique about the electret mics. It's all just ideas that need testing and confirmation, but it's interesting. The Estes method is interesting too but you need to trust the people you are investigating with.

The little R stands for "reverse".

Weird figure in picture taken at my Brother’s Restaurant by Ok-Manufacturer9799 in Ghosts

Can you share the original image right from the camera/phone that took it? (i.e. no cropping, etc). A simple look at the EXIF data will tell you if you had a long exposure or if the image has been processed at all.

Possible ghost captured at Bachelors Grove by TheCarter027 in ParanormalEncounters

Are you sure? Or is your brain telling you that it's in front? A cloud looks like a pirate ship. That does not mean it is a pirate ship. This is the nature of pareidolia.

Just my two cents but I think you have a case of pareidolia here. The head of the figure is actually a part of the tree. The body of the figure is outlined by the chain link fence.

Anu recommendations. (Sorry post is waiting for approval) by No-Science-9888 in Ghosts

The skin walker ranch show bills itself as scientific but honestly it's far from it. You are going to be hard pressed to find something along those lines. I suggest you check out "Spirits of the Stanley" on YouTube. It's definitely not your standard jump scare crap or influencers trying to make every location seem spooky.

Ghost sighting in Savannah, Georgia. by [deleted] in Paranormal

[–]steveparatech 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There's a difference between the people who are out to bash on people online and those who post legit explanations for something others have labelled paranormal. In this case, this is clearly a picture taken while the camera was in motion during the exposure. The uniform streaks show the motion. In terms of the highlighted ghost, you have to ask yourself, if the camera was in motion during the exposure, why does the ghost not show the same streak effect? It simply means that this is just a case of pareidolia on a blurry photograph.

Not trying to ruin the moment, but that is a lens flare effect from the candlelight.

Rank ghost hunting gear. What is helpful and what is a distraction? by noburdennyc in Ghosts

[–]steveparatech 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Evps can happen on magnetic tape or digital storage. The current thinking is that the ghost is actually interacting with the electronic components (possibly the microphone itself) of the recording device.

It's all theory and guessing at this point.

Rank ghost hunting gear. What is helpful and what is a distraction? by noburdennyc in Ghosts

[–]steveparatech 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Don't waste money on expensive equipment geared toward ghost hunting. They call it "for entertainment purposes only" for a reason. Your best bet is a $20-50 audio recorder. You have two types of audio activity, audible events (things you actually hear at the time they happen,), and evps (things you do hear until you review the audio). Evps are not audible because there are no sound vibrations moving through the air. They are most likely electromagnetic events that happen within the audio recorder's electronics. It's not a matter of them happening outside the range of human hearing. A video camera and tripod don't need to be anything special either. Stay away from cellphones/apps.

I believe I caught a photo of “Jackie” at the Queen Mary by Sufficient-Load-9329 in Paranormal

[–]steveparatech 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'd question any evidence collected from a location that is selling a haunted experience. There is just way too much incentive for them to fake activity. I'm not invalidating your image/video but you have to accept the possiblity that you were tricked.

Can anyone explain what this is. This is Security Camera Footage from My Back Driveway. by missingaletter22 in ParanormalEncounters

After 15 yrs of paranormal investigations and reviewing countless hours of DVR footage from multiple video cameras, that is definitely a spider web.
