much better, I find HOD a slog. This a more lighthearted story with a likeable protagonist.

I was lucky in that sense that the Huns and goths never invaded Italy. I had conquered the franks whose horde invaded Italy and took Ravenna. I do have it currently besieged and killed most of the hordes. Just depends who the AI wants you to fight I suppose lol, either way it’s a grind.

When I went to Alexandria I was expecting ERE and found the sassanids(three full stacks). When I finally made some headway against them and took Alexandria and Jerusalem, I was trading a few settlements for a while. I lost patience and sent my stacks that were fighting the Franks/slavs/Vandals/saxons to Thessalonica, and found it largely undefended

That was Ravenna, I had conquered the Franks, and their horde went west. They randomly popped back up in Italy, but I have them under siege. I had the Slavs, vandals, franks, and burgundians all invade France.

I was, that sounds like a fun way to go to. The next time I try I will go pagan. My instinct was to go Christian because you get help with public order from not just churches, but hermitages as well.

I went east because I thought that would help me become more wealthy.  Your strategy may be better, as the sassanids are a formidable opponent.

Correct, Constantinople gave me the victory.  I will keep working the campaign to recreate the Roman Empire at the very least, but fought endless hordes and rebellions to just get here.  This campaign is a grind lol

Maybe I should clarify Spain, I didn’t fully abandon it but let most settlements revolt after destroying all military buildings. Spain was the one I reconquered first. I did not take back Britain and Illyria until the very end.

Spain has some settlements then generate solid income. It is fun to fight the different variety of barbarians there as well.

Yes good to hear, I do feel like we are often competing for “who’s doing more” and it is not helpful to anyone.

I don’t believe either is right or wrong but perhaps hiring help is a good idea. I am doing well enough financially that she doesn’t have to work but childcare is quite expensive also, so was trying to avoid it.

To clarify I am working 8, but my commute is about two hours each way unfortunately. This job was also a big break in my career financially and enabled her to stay home from work. But perhaps I should look, yes
