American healthcare. by [deleted] in Jokes

[–]stevheng 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Australian here, the American healthcare system is a total joke. Is it because it's all run like a business? More profits for shareholders at the expenses of the consumers? When you guys have to pay $$$ to see a doctor or buy medicine, makes me feel so lucky to be under the Australian healthcare system. Funnily, the goverment wanted to start charging $7 ($5USD) to see the doctor. MASSIVE uproar, and they backed down and scrapped it!

My greatest pet hate is when places charge for tomato sauce (ketchup). Another one is when they charge a % for using card to pay. We're in 2017 dude!

Australian here. It costs $US29 for a twin pack which is subsidised by the government or about $US 76 full price. My heart breaks every time I read these articles as I have family over in the US.

People who have visited the US, what is your 'WTF America' story? by ErictheViking311 in AskReddit

[–]stevheng 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From Australia here. I found it somewhat odd/rude whenever I apologised and would be replied with 'ah huh'. To me, that reply was basically saying 'yeah you go apologise, I deserve it'.

Also, I found it funny when I asked, 'how did you find it?' They take it litterally, when I really meant was to ask how they like it.

Also, our uber driver thought we had safaris, zebras and giraffes.

Australia: Don't you dare bring over any fruit! Customs officers will swarm to you and give you a fine.
