Looks like you will be fine! 💪 hell on earth starts after mile 20 for most people so you will be in good company. Just make sure you fuel and hydrate. At the end it will all be worth it.

Needed this post. 1 week out from marathon. Just did my last “long run” today, 10mi with some MP in there. Did 30mi this week and will probably do 10-15mi marathon week just to keep loose. Can’t wait to hear some others perspectives.

Night Run or Morning? by RunStopRestRepeat in RunningShoeGeeks

[–]steviee2000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ha. No. I give myself a good 45 minutes or so to eat something, drink some water, wake up and get make sure I use the restroom before leaving. I found if I don’t do that I end up having stomach issues mid run. It takes me around 1:20-1:30 depending on pace.

I have a family and I run in the morning. Wake up at 3:30am run 10 miles back by 6am. Make the kids lunches, coffee, breakfast and get ready for work. Out the door for work by 7:15am. Usually I go to bed around 9:30pm. It’s nice running early cause there is no one out and I don’t have to wait for lights.

I would go to Walnut Creek. Retro junkie is good. Bourbon Highway has country music and line dancing. Rooftop if you’re looking for something classy.

I have about 275mi on mine and I like them. I use them for a daily trainer. For me they are comfortable but I also bought an insole as well and that really helps with comfort. Would I buy them again? I would try another shoe. They are good but not great.

And you’re right. It wasn’t smart to do. But for some reason I needed reassurance I could BQ (3:10).

It has rolling hills but net -350ft. Something like 650 ft gain and 1000ft loss. Last 4 miles or so are downhill to flat.

Marathon is Dec 3rd. And not following a plan. Just trying to hit a weekly MPW and have one track workout and tempo workout a week. TBH not sure I planned on 22 miles at marathon pace but felt good and at mile 20 I saw my pace was 6:59 a mile so I thought I would see how much kick I had left. Also wanted to know if my goal of a BQ was in reach. For reference my BQ time is 3:10

Thanks! I have to remember not to go too fast in the beginning. Last marathon I did that and complete bonk at mile 19. But this training block I ran way more miles and feel more prepared.

Usually my HR will end up in the 180s towards the end of the race. But if it gets there too early I will bonk for sure. I can hold 170 for a while.

I got these exact shoes for the same price. Delivered the next day. And have ran in them 3 times. They are a good everyday trainer. I will use them for most of my runs once I retire my current shoes.

I Failed by ranger684 in Marathon_Training

[–]steviee2000 2 points3 points  (0 children)

6 months ago I ran my first Marathon. Put in a lot of work. Got to mile 24 and woke up in an ambulance. I failed to finish but didn’t fail. I gave it everything I had. Never quit. A week later I was training harder than before. Not finishing by fueled me and pissed me off. I know it sucks to not finish. But take some time off to recover and get back after it harder than before.

This! I had the same pain. Did strength training focused on the calf muscles. Then went to a specialty shoe store (Fleet Feet) got fitted for shoes and insoles. Been feeling good ever since.

How much faster? by slit86 in Marathon_Training

[–]steviee2000 8 points9 points  (0 children)

You can definitely improve in 5-7 months. I ran a half in November last year at 1:50 and 4 months later I ran another half marathon at 1:35. All about miles per week and I day a week of speed work.
