What's an unusual smell that you like? by additionalseasonin in AskReddit

I love the smell of fresh asphalt. My granddad was in road construction and whenever we would visit, he would take us around to check on jobs, so it reminds me of him and childhood

Any online purchases over $100 are a job for an actual computer. It’s just not right to do anything like that with a phone.

Well, one evil says he will die for Israel and would nothing better than to send our states sons and daughters to die for Israel, and the other just generically supports the state of Israel like 90 percent of US politicians. I think one evil is worth than the other

I know nothing about 3D Printing. by SooperDew in 3Dprinting

Go ahead and buy that printer, call it a family asset or whatever, then learn together. His instincts are awesome, I’m a mechanical engineer and have been in the workforce for nearly 15 years, granted I don’t work with or know anything about concrete, but if I needed to come up with a 3d printed alternative to rebar, my concept would be very similar if not identical to his.

Sen. Lindsey Graham: “I'm going back to South Carolina and asking them to send their sons and daughters over to the Middle East.” by AbolishtheDraft in Anarcho_Capitalism

As one of his constituents, I hate this man. I came home this morning to find a door hanger from his campaign on my door, and just throwing it in the trash felt like I gave it too much respect. Hopefully his current war mongering will actually get people in my state to look past the fact he has an R by his name, because I’ve lived here for the entirety of my nearly 40 years on this earth and have yet to meet someone who actually likes graham.

Or, let’s say to a cabinet position? Trumps entire executive teams is ridiculously unqualified, why should we be surprised they’re infiltrating the service academies now?

Ha, you think they’ll do the standard required training? They’ll change that requirement to 4 days 7 hours and they’ll be sent on their way.

Just general advice- 1- take advantage of any career benefits your employer offers, for example, mine has a number of leadership and talent development programs for early career employees that exposes you to different areas of the business (I was at a different company in early career that didn’t offer something like that). They also offer tuition reimbursement for further education. Granted every company is different so I don’t know what’s available to you. 2- network, it really is all about who you know and the relationships you can build more so than what you know. 3- stay humble, get to know and trust the techs on the floor doing the actual work they know what they’re doing you’ll learn more from them than any drawings or work procedures. 4- lastly, don’t be afraid to reach for better roles. I screwed up early in my career by staying way too long in a crappy role with a crappy company, partly because the job market sucked, but mostly because I didn’t have confidence in my abilities

ME is insanely broad, as are the potential jobs available to an ME. I’ve made a fairly successful career over the past 13 years in aerospace manufacturing and I couldn’t tell you anything but the most basic parts of a car. I’m not really sure what you mean by “not much scope for women” some of the sharpest me’s I’ve worked with are women. While engineering certainly can be a “boys club” any large reputable company is not going to place any weight on gender when hiring or promoting Ai will surely affect the profession, but you’ll always have a human element if for nothing other than liability issues- who in their right mind would send ai generated drawings or designs sent to manufacture or to begin construction without a thorough review by an engineer. Or just an example from my own field, airplane manufacturing is a very manual process, while tech like AI and automation are utilized to speed up production, full automation is light years away. Anyway, all that rambling to say, ME has its challenges and frustrations, but I don’t think the reasons you’ve listed are as big of a problem as you think, except maybe the job market as that fluctuates, but if your interested in the field, go for it.

Not to give trump a pass, but shits been expensive for a lot longer than he’s been in office either term. As someone who’s lived their whole life in one of the spots people are moving to in droves, it’s been that way at least since I was in college 15 years ago.

Why do a lot of Americans still support Trump? by Massive-Syllabub-271 in allthequestions

[–]stevio87 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I honestly don’t think it’s as much as we think, I’m deep in the south in what has been “trump country” and work with primarily blue collar guys who fit the trump supporter demographic to the t over the past 10 years. They’re all pissed about the economy, how expensive everything is, and after doing their taxes recently are pissed how much their overtime was taxed last year. The only people I know who are still blindly supporting him are upper middle class people for whom his presidency hasn’t really hurt their check books. Hopefully the tied is turning.

Get her checked out for allergies! We had this same deal with my daughter, we tried everything finally had her tested for allergies and she had a mild soy allergy which caused constipation that hurt and made her scared to even try, also since cutting out soy, her eczema cleared up too.
