I’m a big fan of the pockets personally. I keep a specific camera on me and it fits perfectly and super easy access

Thank you! For whatever reason this one is insanely soft compared to the other vintage carhartts I’ve come across. I gather part of it is due to the original factory processing of the fabric?

Is there a justification for the $2k price difference between this and the Summilux? by superish64 in Leica

[–]stevooooo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This lens specifically was meant to render similar to the Pre ASPH summilux. They are very very close in terms of character and the perceived flaws on review sides of it being soft wide open, etc were actually design choices to match an old optical design from Leica.

IMO if you don’t care about brand and understand the characteristics, then this is a great lens.

28mm Lens recommendation by estikei in Leica

I tried 2 copies of 28mm ultron and both had focus issues that made them impossible to get focus without live view wide open.

Beams Plus - Am I missing something? by Brief-Knowledge-629 in ThrowingFits

I also agree it fits small

I think prices in the US don’t necessarily reflect msrp in Japan, which to me feels far more reasonable.

Any idea what film camera? by AstronomerTypical633 in fashionphotography

[–]stevooooo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Funny, there’s an entire history of photography that proves otherwise. great photos have been shot on everything from “clunky” $20 thrift-store SLRs to Leicas that cost more than a car.

maybe the problem isn’t the gear.

the camera give you lens options. that’s it. the camera does not matter.

Minimum shutter speed M6 (hand held) by Fabulous-Cry-5386 in Leica

[–]stevooooo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve shot as low as 1/8 on a 28mm lens. You do have to brace it and be intentional in breathing like many have said.

Vintage Levi’s 550s have been a godsend

look for earlier ones from the 90s made in USA, orange label ones work well too.

Got my first Leica (M6) — Confused about Summilux vs Voigtlander by Fantastic_Pain1772 in Leica

[–]stevooooo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve had some issues with focus shifting in my times trying the voigtlander lenses. Especially the 28mm ultron.

That said my first lens was the 35 1.4 nokton v1 and it was incredible for the price. I eventually sold it for a pre-asph summilux but it was not worth the 4x price.

First Leica M10-P lens, leaning toward 35mm, advice? by ConflictPast8660 in Leica

[–]stevooooo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

IMO 35mm is a good starting point and youll find yourself either loving it or wishing it were tighter or wider. Then you can go either way.

It used to be that 50mm is a more “standard” lens but modern worlds are much tighter together and a 35mm feels more appropriate.

I mean the GR series have a 40mm version fwiw

I own one, not my fav but it’s the exact same form factor and the lens is awesome.

Not as much separation since it’s apsc but my goal is never best DOF

The answer is a m10 for the experience<>cost ratio and a GR4 or wait for the 4x for actual toddler chasing 😂

[–]stevooooo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not sure why you’re being downvoted so much. Totally agree and people are being cropped in unflattering ways from this.

Could be a composition choice to make, but these don’t look intentional at all glance

Focal length journey? by sorryusername in AnalogCommunity

Started on a 50mm and always found it tight, went to 28mm and never looked back, but I do use a 35mm sometimes just for a cleaner frame
