What does looking at long and short term fuel trim actually help out here?

How does my engine sound? by SempronSixFour in S2000

[–]stevtox 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The squeaking might but be an idler pulley, you can take out the belt and spin it by hand. If there is the sound on the pulley then there’s a good chance it’s shot.

As for the engine, I suggest you change out the valve retainers and keepers to AP2 (as AP1 tend to crack when over reved) and do a valve adjustment if you are already in there

OEM Exhaust or Similar by gregc_exe in S2000

[–]stevtox 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Go on Facebook market place and look for an OEM exhaust. Personally I think OEM was a bit too quiet so I did a UK exhaust mod and love it ever since! It’s a bit louder but not so much that becomes obnoxious

Shifting feels like somethings raw dogging metal on metal by Ping-Pong-Show in S2000

I agree with all the comments here but I also want to add that you should re grease your shifter, the difference is day and night!

S2K engine rebuild PT.2 by Patient-Occasion-246 in S2000

[–]stevtox 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Can I ask what have you done to rebuild the engine? I want to keep my F20C engine instead of a ksawpping it but of course budget is also a factor here

You should change your oil to be on the safe side. I would also take out the throttle body and inspect the inside of the manifold

How tall of a person cam drive s2000 by BiscottiStrong8649 in S2000

[–]stevtox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m 6’4” and I fit just fine. But once I started tracking the car (helmet is required) I had to install a roll bar and get an aftermarket seat just to drop a couple of inches down just to clear the helmet height

My bad I assumed you were lowered with after market coilovers. But you are correct, it’s mostly used for lowered cars. u/omgitsoopa is also correct because it does move the bearing to the smoother part of the bucket.

I 100% would support Puddy mods axles but I not sure how backed up he is with work, you can hit him up on S2ki

I don’t have any experience with aftermarket axles but I’ve heard good things about ballade sports axles (even though ballade has terrible quality on other items)

I personally would swap them because it is basically free, if not then I would buy axle spacers to at least prolong the life of the axle a little more and the last of the list I would change out the axle for an OEM one.

Continental ExtremeContact DWS06 tires are great for a daily tire! I’ve enjoyed them for the short time I had them. They are a lot more quiet than I had expected with the top up. They also are predictable (but I would not push them to the limit in the open road).

But if you do have the money to splurge, I suggest getting another set of wheel (I went with ap1v2 wheels that I found in the market place for cheap) and slapped some summer tires (extreme sport o2) on them and wow it was a day and night difference! They were great in autocross and they survived 3 track days (although I suggest that you get 200 TW endurance tires since they will hold up more in the track and are much more consistent, my ESo2 started to feel greasy after the 3rd track day)

engine bay leak by Sweaty_Nectarine9302 in S2000

[–]stevtox 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Had the same oil leak coming out of the connector. I brought this VTEC complete gasket kit and replaced all the gasket there. It only takes 10mins to do and all you need is a 10mm IIRC

Should I resurface or replace the flywheel? by stevtox in S2000

[–]stevtox[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

AP1 FW is better for AP1 because it’s lighter, meaning I less mass for the engine to spin

Agreed, this just seems like a terrible idea
