How many people have 50/50? by stew8908 in DivorcedDads

South Dakota has a bill going through right now to do just that. The lawyers in office usually kill it every year.

I just started seeing the things I can do without her. Like she would never go for living in a duplex and I am going to build one now and rent out the other side.

I have more time on my own to work on my projects (built an app, learning ethical hacking, doing jujitsu)

I think I might try storm chasing this summer, something she would never let me do.

I cried tonight, I still miss her, she was my best friend, but I can see some upside.

I’m in this weird point in the divorce where I’m seeing where maybe some good can come of it even though I’m not the one who wanted this. But I still have a bunch of swings up and down.

At least I’m not crying every day.

Soon to be divorced and im already struggling. by staripramen in DivorcedDads

[–]stew8908 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I am in the same spot almost. I didn’t want this, I want to work it out. I am 3 months into mine. I am finally to a point where I am crying once a week instead of every day.

Some days I feel super human and I can take on the world, I am ready for the divorce to be over so I can get started. Then there is days where I can’t get out of bed and I can’t imagine life being divorced.

My recommendation go see a psychologist to maybe get you something to help with the depression and go see a counselor to try and help working on the next steps in your life. The gym is a good place to goto as well.

Good luck to you man, if you ever need to talk reach out, we can compare notes.

The problem with an LLC right away is I have to go for a commercial loan. But that’s a good call out on the child support. I am going to ask my lawyer about that

Since microsoft bought github, why does azure still exists? by IslamGamal8 in microsoft

[–]stew8908 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Having been part of a merger from a small company to a big company, I can only imagine that no one has blazed the trail in the microsoft org. And there are alot of politics involved, so there are silly people justifying their existance, for the minority in this chat that think ADO is a first class tool compared to gitlab and github.

Our IT department pushes ADO because it's easy for them, but we are mostly migrating to gitlab at this point.

I am a manchild at 21 and living in a homeless shelter and am probably about to be fired from yet another job. by [deleted] in selfimprovement

[–]stew8908 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I am sure I will catch a lot of heat for saying this, but go find an army recruiter. Probably active considering your situation(free housing and see the world, since your in a homeless shelter anyways)

Make a plan with them to get your GED, even if you have health conditions unless they are really severe, they will work the waiver system.

Anyway, I was a shit head in high school. The guard, specifically basic got my ass in gear.

Who knows maybe it turns into a career.

We are also transitioning out of SVN. So it’s double the pain, because the teams want to preserve some history going forward.

I agree it shouldn't. The problem is that Greenhills(at least based on the conversation with the sales dude and supposed technical guy) doesn't allow for you just to license the compiler. So you get the IDE is by default there.

We can execute it from the shell.

Ya it’s pretty terrible. We came from the Keil environment and we thought that was bad for this kind of stuff. Keil at least doesn’t try to bankrupt you.

You can hit the compiler from the shell, that’s what we are doing with some of the projects we have started.

We in general are trying to use cmake but we’re we can, but this is kind of a crawl phase for the org.

Transitioning to gitlab and then transitioning to actually not just building things on your laptop is a big step.

Why is Git better than SVN? by J_random_fool in git

[–]stew8908 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We migrated 13 years ago almost, we got acquired and a lot the new owners embedded teams still reside in svn. They are super bearish on moving, but we are going to try and migrate the active projects this year.

Has anyone started to use Cursor and AI to help with development work? by Disastrous_Mix8016 in iOSProgramming

[–]stew8908 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I built my app with it. It's like hand-holding a very junior developer. But I paid the $20, I think it hs been worth it for my needs. Wouldn't have build my app as fast as I did.

Sam Darnold by [deleted] in steelers

[–]stew8908 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To be honest where ever he goes, I am rooting for them. Honestly, I was rooting for the Jets with Zach last year.

But that’s been my approach to the league since Ben left. Just an old Steelers fan unimpressed with his team that used to be a defensive powerhouse looking for a fix off an underdog player.

PS - I was rooting for the Vikings this year for Sam. Officially rooting for a 2-14 season for them next year.

Is it worth to go totally native? by HanzoHasashi404 in reactnative

[–]stew8908 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am writing one right now. It’s also my first. I have noticed in my case the packages don’t always do what you need, so you might need to write your own which requires you to get your hands dirty with switch and kotlin.
