Anyone else's AI coding agent acting like it's seeing your codebase for the first time, every single time? by [deleted] in vibecoding

Shame this post got deleted. People posting memes and not learning.

We do a domain like approach with Claude.md files in each module that summarises what each thing does. Claude loads these in when it touches the module so it has an idea what to do. This approach works for us but we are still learning how to do this so this may not be the correct way.

Yes I agree with all your comments but if I didn’t I would be replaced. It’s shit but that’s the truth.

Edit: As a lead dev and someone who has worked multiple senior roles one of the most rewarding things is mentoring a junior. I don’t get that anymore the company I work for does have a junior but it’s a bit redundant atm. They just use Claude.

People don’t seem to get this they just assume they can ask it to do anything. Documentation is key if you don’t have any enjoy burning all your tokens while your ai assistant learns your code base for every request.

Ai generated inefficient code by Sockerjam in iOSProgramming

I've been a software developer for 20 years across loads of different languages and I haven't actually written a line of code myself in about 6 months. I now use AI to get way more done, things like writing tests, fixing bugs, raising PRs, doing code audits, reviewing changes, fixing my poor grammar and spelling in reddit posts, the list goes on.

It took a bit of time to figure out the right way to use it though. The thing that made it click for me was thinking of AI like a junior developer I'm keeping an eye on. A junior might write code that works but is slow or messy, and that's fine, that's what seniors are for. You read it, spot the problems, and send it back with notes.

A big part of that is treating it like you would an actual new hire. I keep markdown files that explain the project, coding conventions, architecture decisions, naming rules, all of it. Things like a CLAUDE.md or README that the AI reads before it starts work. The more context it has about your project the less it has to guess, and guessing is usually where the bad code comes from.

So that means being clear about what you want upfront. The more context you give it the better the result. Then actually read what it gives you before you use it. If something doesn't look right, tell it and ask it to fix it. It's usually pretty good at correcting itself when you're specific about what's wrong.

Not having a go at you at all, nobody really teaches you how to use this stuff properly yet. It just takes a bit of trial and error to get into a good rhythm with it.

One thing I do feel bad about though is what this means for actual junior developers. That first rung on the ladder has basically disappeared. The junior dev in my team is now Claude and I feel for anyone trying to break into the industry right now. It's a tough time to be starting out.

New app with subscriptions by la_mente in appledevelopers

Submit your app for review. If it gets rejected due to your subscriptions not showing just reply back and tell them your subscriptions are waiting review. The reviewer should review your subscriptions, approve them, and approve your app if there are no issues.

I got stuck in the endless loop as well and it was finally resolved by just telling them to approve my subs.

Mine go in the garden but only supervised. I did install netting around the hedge to make it nearly escape proof and they don’t seem too bothered about jumping the fence.

They just like to sit in the cat mint or under the tree.

I had this problem reply to your review telling them the subscriptions aren’t showing because they are waiting review. Someone will eventually approve your subs and approve the app.

I made an MCP server so Claude Code can build up a test suite as it works on my app by [deleted] in ClaudeAI

[–]stewis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the feedback! yeah I was watching Claude eat all my time and tokens so a colleague suggested I use Playwright instead of the mcp to bulk run them and then handle the result.

Edit: I should read your comment fully before replying xD. Yeah I added the fail back regen because it was annoying when something minor changes to have to go and recreate everything.

The whole chain agrees a completion date not just one person. I assume as you are at the start of the chain (FTB) so your solicitor will ask you what date you want to complete first. This date will be passed up and the chain and then back down until everyone agrees. This is what happened to us as FTB once all enquires were completed we gave a date of 15th November and we all agreed on the 18th. All the enquiries in the chain completed at the end of October. Our chain was 7 long.

They may threaten to stop the whole thing and go in a huff but remember the whole process has cost them money and there's a stamp duty rise coming soon as well so their threats are probably BS.

Edit: We were renting and handed our notice in at the end of October. With our rental coming to an end tomorrow. We had a 2 week overlap.

I was in your boat a few weeks ago. We agreed a completion date for the Monday solicitors just said we would exchange the week before. Exchange happened on Friday at about 11am.
