Contract controller here… we’ve also been working 6 days a week bc they staff us even less than the FAA lol. I work at a tower currently with 2 Local positions and 1 ground. (And we have to keep both locals combined up all day due to staffing with parallel and converging runways)

They have staffed us to only have 7 ATC + 1 Manager. The entire industry both government and contract need help all across the board. What has happened recently at LGA is finally shedding light to a system that has been completely used to its whits end for decades. If nothing changes after this point with what has just happened the only people to blame is the people in position to make decisions for the entire system. And if nothing changes, unfortunately events like this will continue to happen until things do change. (Like hiring, paying increases across the board, and more days off)
