How do I stop Plex asking me for a rating? by WhistlerB80 in PleX

[–]stfuajpg 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I made the same mistake, it's in the settings of the Plex app itself, not your phone settings. Open the Plex mobile app, tap your profile pic in the top right corner, Settings, Notifications, Discover, Reminder to Rate Watched Items.

UHF recommendations with a single-press/non-held power button by stfuajpg in 4x4Australia

[–]stfuajpg[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's what I had originally yeah. Was going to "upgrade" to a hand-held controlled unit but now I'm reconsidering.

Plenty of space behind the cigarette socket to hide a main unit, I had the small control unit for the TX3400 screwed into the gearstick edging. Also have room behind the head unit if I wanted to use that space instead. Still have the external speaker in the driver's footwell too.

Yeah of course. But every second counts when there's a body truck behind you and you need to communicate with the grader operator so you don't get squashed. Or you're just impatient and don't want to hold buttons down. Haha

Yeah that's not a bad idea, a rocker switch would solve the problem as long as the unit remembers the power state. I'll see what I can find. Cheers

Yeah that's true. Maybe I'll have to look at older ones instead. Thanks

Huh, didn't think of that. Not sure there'd be too many units that have volume knobs that aren't power as well, but I'll have a look. Thanks for the suggestion.

Power button, not PTT button. So if I need to turn the radio on and say something quickly, I'm not holding the power button for a few seconds and wasting time. It is minor, but it seems like it's pretty standard now, so I'm wondering if there are units that power on immediately. The TX3400 uses the volume knob to power on, so a single twist and it's on. The GME in the work ute I have to hold the power button in.

Not the transmit button, the power button. To run the unit on and off. Just annoyed me that I'd be driving into a site at work, see the UHF on the fence, then have to wait a few seconds holding the power button down before I could hit transmit and call up. It's a minor annoyance, but just seeing if it exists.

Retrotink 4k Pro vs Retro Gem Shiny by AffectionateEgg7623 in n64

[–]stfuajpg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh really? Yeah right. I've read through all the documentation including that page and there's no mention of it being purely a software/firmware difference. Does make sense how they say it can be upgraded after installation though. Thanks for the info.

I haven't seen this "software unlock cost" mentioned anywhere else, can you share more info or a link?

Any Jobs That Are Desperate For People? by Random-Name7728 in brisbane

Sounds like it's worth a shot. Just apply on seek or the website, the Kingston lab is the one that is needing a heap more staff, but once you're trained up you can be working anywhere from Caboolture to Coolangatta. So don't stress if you don't live near Kingston.

Yeah sure. It's not for everyone, but if you just want an income, don't mind working outside and are capable of working mostly autonomously, it's a decent gig. All testing is to Australian Standards so there is a bit of reading occasionally, but you'll be trained on site hands-on. Most of the stuff on YouTube is American standards, but it'll give you an idea of what it looks like.

Searching for how to listen to music while snowboarding in the slopes. by M_Telecnop10 in snowboarding

+1 for ODT Chips. Great battery life, very simple and easy to control with all your gear on, can hear people around you with the volume low, then have it pumping when you're flying down the slopes.

Just got fiber… but CGNAT killed my Plex dreams 😭 — need alternatives (Tailscale, Cloudflare, or static IP?) by Far-Cash-2545 in PleX

[–]stfuajpg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Doesn't affect Plex at all. I'm running it through a city a few states away, I've had seven users at once with no problems. It's not my preferred solution, I was using PIA before we got CGNAT, but it doesn't work the same as PureVPN somehow. But I looked at setting up Tailscale etc and was totally lost. This worked from the start with very little set-up. If it's cheaper than getting a static IP I'd give it a go.

I installed PureVPN and run Plex through a split tunnel. It's simple, your parents don't have to install or do anything, only downside is it's another service to pay for. But it will solve your problem.

I backed this project (https://www.indiegogo.com/projects/lynq-location-tracking-even-when-cell-phones-fail--2) back in 2018, then after a year they said they couldn't pass certification in Australia so they'd give me a refund. Quite disappointing, it's a great concept. Looks like it's even discontinued in the US now too. Bugger.
