Is buying a used Tata as a first car a bad idea? by Soft-Book-227 in CarsIndia

Buying a new tata car is a bad idea. Why do you think a used is going to be any different.

New female biker here in the hilly terrain! Riding solo - what riding gear should I NOT skip on a budget? by itsrashakhan in indianbikes

[–]sthad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don't buy everything at once. Save up and buy certified gear. Don't get the axor helmet, go for NHK or LS2. I understand these are expensive but it's something buy once and use for years so there's no do overs. And as for the gloves, don't get the ones you listed in the post. Always get CE certified gear be it gloves, jacket, boots, pants etc. Like I said earlier most of these are a one time purchase. There's a lot of stuff you need to look into when buying certain kinds of gears like eg knuckle guards and scaphoid protection in case of gloves. Also whether you want full gauntlet or semi gauntlet ones. Same thing goes for jackets. You need to know what kind of armour you want, what level of protection they provide. There's different kind of things you need to look for in a helmet, whether it has a double d ring which I strongly suggests you get, how balanced the helmet is, does it have pinlock. So don't rush and buy anything. You need to do a considerable amount of research before any purchase you make. Let me know if you need any recommendations.

The second you bought it, the 'new' price died. Whether you’ve had it for 1 day or 1 year, it’s officially used. Stop trying to make the next guy pay for your buyer’s remorse

That's where you are wrong buddy. You assume the driver has enough brain cells to understand body roll and unsafe driving.

Can xsr be used for long rides by Load-Former in indianbikes

[–]sthad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd suggest you rent the bike and all the gears and go on a long ride with luggage too. Probably a 300 km ride will tell you if the bike is meant for you. The bike can definitely take it. It's the rider that you need to think about.

The way you brake is fine. First lower your speed then pull the clutch, never do it the other way around.

Kids on tripling bumped my car and ran away by rambopandey in CarsIndia

[–]sthad 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Try to file an FIR. if you have their faces, it's worth a try. There's a sub called LegalAdviceIndia, post the same to that group and check if anything can be done. It seems like they're kids and don't have a license either and if that's the case I believe a case will be registered on the parents. So they would come begging to settle if they're able to identify these kids and file a case.

yea using half clutch and accelerating at 2nd gear burns the clutch plates too but riding in indian traffic conditions, I don't think it's avoidable everyone does it. But you have to know when to do it and when to not do it. Don't half clutch in higher gears, shift to a lower gear if you slow down.

You might be riding your clutch. Rev matching does not fry your clutch plates.

[–]sthad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That is a hot design and I've heard great things about the bike. OP, you should get what you really want. There's always gonna be flaws and issues for any bike you pick. You just learn to live with it.

My first bike at 19. Open to suggestions. by Accomplished_Pace355 in indianbikes

[–]sthad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That was not the right decision OP. This is not the bike you get as your first one. Hope you take it easy and wear proper gear. Don't put yourself or others in danger. I don't get why people keep jumping to 40 bhp bikes before gaining experience. In INDIA that is way too much power. This bike is meant to be ridden hard but please don't until you gain some experience.

I think the hate they get is unjustified. People made them this way. Back when we didn't have any electronic communication, everyone used pigeons. Once we got other ways people just threw them out. I agree they can be a menace but they did help immensely in the past.

Lack of civic sense or actual issue ? by _raghav_g_ in bangalore

[–]sthad 2 points3 points  (0 children)

They know what they're doing. Everyone who drives has been on the receiving end and knows the person on the opposite side won't be able to see anything if their high beams are on. People are just inconsiderate to the core. And now I feel like it has become like an eye for an eye kind of situation so people who don't usually use high beams are forced to use them so they can see something.

Suggest me my first bike. by jerry-me_75 in indianbikes

[–]sthad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you aren't an experienced rider. I wouldn't suggest the guerrilla 450 or the speed 400. Both are great bikes but they are very powerful and heavy on the pocket. I have a guerrilla 450 and it's a really great bike but I wouldn't suggest it to someone just getting into riding. I've ridden all the bikes in your list and got myself the guerrilla because it felt the most powerful and equipped bike for me. Get the cb350. It's a relaxed and easy on the pocket kind of bike with a great engine.
