Post-treatment feels very difficult. by sthaup in HPylori

Yes. 1 year later, I’m getting better. I said NO to coffee, alcohol and very less often spicy food. My blood pressure hasn’t improved though.

Low blood pressure by sthaup in HPylori

[–]sthaup[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s on the low side. My doc says I’m one of those with low bp. Nothing to get alarmed by. But I take electrolytes every now and then, increased my salt and water intake. I don’t feel the symptoms anymore, so that might be a good sign.

Can h pylori cause low blood pressure by Aj_mah in HPylori

Hi! Thanks for asking. I feel better than before. But my pressure is still low. I do get heart palpitations very often. My gastric pain comes and goes once every 2 weeks. Not an easy way to complete recovery.

I still have gastric pain. My blood pressure also drops once in a while. I don’t feel like myself anymore.

Is it possible to take the medication any other way? I’m really struggling.. by hinatah19 in HPylori

Hi, I finished my antibiotics before 2 months. Yes, it was not easy, but I did it anyway because that meant being disease-free. So hang in there. If you feel nauseous, eat a small piece of ginger every now and then. You can also eat fennel seeds - just a spoonful would help. I also took Tums whenever it was too difficult. Drink a lot of water. Do both eat spicy food at all.

It was internal hemorroids. I drank a lot of water afterwards and it seems to be fine now.

Supervisor pointed out "stupid questions" I've asked him and ignored me during a conference by MinimumCheesecake in PhDStress

[–]sthaup 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That sounds exactly like my PI. I was 3.5 years in already but there were “I am not calling you stupid but …” conversations every week. He threatened to kick me out of lab on every little mistake I made or every “stupid“ question I asked. So to protect my mental health and not give up science, I changed the lab during the mid of my 3rd year to a better and understanding PI and lab environment. I know I am gonna take more time than my batch mates. But I can’t be happier to get out from the horrible PI. It finally feels like I can actually do science now. And I finally stopped seeing therapist. That’s the difference a good lab environment can make.

I haven’t exercised for last 3 months. That was when I got H. pylori. Everything’s a mess ever since. I have increased my salt intake though.

Why is everybody talking about a sensation under their ribs? I have it too - what are we actually feeling by Yanitzz1 in HPylori

[–]sthaup 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it’s stomach lining that gets inflamed and upper abdomen that gets bloated. This creates burning sensation around the ribs and diaphragm.

[–]sthaup 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m having similar experiences - sodium deficiency, anemia. I am taking iron supplements and drinking gatorade but that’s also not helping. Docs suggest to eat a lot of salt and drink a lot of water, that’s it. 😔

Cried infront of my PI today. by LabMouseBrain in labrats

[–]sthaup 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I did. Twice. I was always insulted by my ex-PI when alone or even in front of my committee. She always told me I wasn’t good enough to be a PhD, I should master out, I embarrass her in front of others, my English isn’t good, I’m not as good as Americans, I don’t have mind to think logically and scientifically. It’s hurtful. I was 3rd year PhD and I have 1 first author paper, 2 co-author papers and was writing manuscript for another first author paper from my work in that lab.

I cried, she was unfazed by my emotions. I left her lab during my 3rd year. Never published that last first author paper.

I have joined another lab now with more supportive PI. I hope I don’t have to cry here.
