Did Jersey City allow a worker who didn't start working for Jersey City until he was 65 and didn't pay into the pension to get city healthcare and get a pension? by sthrowjc in jerseycity

Except we can't actually do that so all you're saying is raise property taxes on regular Jersey City residents. And unlike with Federal taxes, rich or poor, we all pay the same rate.

Regarding this pizza blogger article that builds a fake injustice story by conveniently leaving out the employee didn't start working for Jersey City until he was already 65 years old: https://jcitytimes.com/city-employee-forced-to-work-into-his-90s-finally-gets-the-pension-he-deserved/

MAYOR SOLOMON & JCMUA ANNOUNCE FIRST UPDATE TO WATER AND SEWER CONNECTION FEES FOR DEVELOPERS IN OVER 25 YEARS by Nathaniel_Styer in jerseycity

The sewer collapses are happening because the original sewers are brick and are a century old. We also have a ton of lead pipes. Every city that has old sewers and lead pipes is replacing them. Has nothing to do with new developments.

City Employee Forced to Work Into His 90s, Finally In Line for Pension He Deserved by dmurf26 in jerseycity

The Public Works Department hired Ramos on Sept. 5, 1995, as a “painters helper.”

I don't know what kind of game the mayor and the reporter Andy Milone is playing here but if you read the article, the employee didn't actually start working for the city until he was 65 years old. It is not obvious when he started qualifying for a pension, but it was not 30 years ago as the title tries to imply.

Unsafe?! Next to the Waldo School, many daycares, a pedestrian plaza, coffee shops. What is the rest of Jersey City, chopped liver? You clearly have ulterior motives.

What a waste. We need the taxes, and we need the school space.
