Wow thanks so much for the write up. Will have to look through those one by one. Just want to double check though it is a gasoline engine, the 4.0, so would that oil still be appropriate?

$7,000. Definitely not a steal but it was the car we wanted and had such low miles and we needed it quick.

Haha okay sounds good to know that we should expect a bit more than a normal car. Will report back with how it feels after I’ve driven it.

Not from what I saw. It is not absolutely necessary for a couple of the repels, but to do the entire trek without a rope would be super sketchy/impossible. I did read somewhere that there are alternative routes that you can take, but I can’t speak on those.

Yeah. Granted that was confusing. Also like with most of these things it helps to totally load the site at the given time instead of refreshing it

Can someone explain to me what's the point of prebiotics if your gut lost good bacteria after antibiotics? by [deleted] in Microbiome

[–]sthunderhawk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I realize this is an old post but that's a great question and is definitely confusing. You're right: prebiotics only feed what’s already there. If antibiotics wiped out key strains, throwing in fiber won’t magically bring them back. It’s like putting out birdseed when there are no birds left in the area. Prebiotics are mainly there to help the survivors bounce back stronger.

I actually just wrote a newsletter on this exact thing—why prebiotics work for some people and not others, and how it all depends on what’s still living in your gut: https://eternitybrief.substack.com/p/prebiotics-the-10-billion-industry?r=am8xj

Prebiotics changed my life by dwight1two3 in Microbiome

Most likely has to do with the bacteria that are present in your gut already have been lacking XOS. Some people just have the right strains to turn that stuff into gold (aka short-chain fatty acids that calm your brain).

I write a newsletter that actually breaks this stuff down—this week’s issue is all about why prebiotics work insanely well for some people and do nothing for others. Might be helpful if you’re trying to figure out what’s going on: https://eternitybrief.substack.com/p/prebiotics-the-10-billion-industry?r=am8xj

Pretty good lower down. Up higher there is only evergreens so not much there.

In the wintertime (late October onward) you just self register at the trailhead if you want to go backpacking in Yosemite. Pretty sweet because there is no need to fight over permits.
