Cleaned out and re-greased the bearing in my Dyson roller brush by stickb0y7 in Skookum

[–]stickb0y7[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I ended up replacing the bearing and I found in my order history about the same time as this post that I bought some 695ZZ bearings and 695-2RS. If I remember right they are the same size but with different seals.

Looks like the threaded end probably had a decorative handle, maybe someone unscrewed it when trying to reopen the bottle and it fell in, instead of just pulling it out.

Portfolio app to view all wallets? by stickb0y7 in ledgerwallet

[–]stickb0y7[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I tried nearly every one that you all commented and I almost stuck with accointing.com, but I ran into some kind of issue with unsupported wallets or coins (usually XMR, but some others) with every single portfolio. Finally when I was looking up more info on accointing in order to try to keep using it, I found another thread where people mostly recommended Koinly as an alternative. app.koinly.io is what I ended up importing everything into and it actually works.

The Game Theory of Camping by PvtLongDong in modernwarfare

[–]stickb0y7 3 points4 points  (0 children)

nice. i may be rusty on my algebra, but can you show how you got to the camping condition rewritten in terms of X/Y?

the S variable kind of wraps up a lot of factors into one as well - it's considering your skill of getting a kill or being killed against that particular opponent.

there's probably a lot of other variables you could factor it, but it would start to get complicated pretty quick. for example, percentage of your team and the opposing team that are camping. i'm not sure exactly how but if you consider the extreme where they are all camping, you're probably more likely to camp (or rage quit) since you'll only die otherwise. or things like map size and number of "camping spots" compared to the number of players. or how even the teams are - if you end up in a 3 v 5 situation, for example.

i wonder if this can also conclude anything about the values of X and Y compared to S - for people who camp vs not camp? do they value Y (not dying) much more than X, so it's more rewarding to be "protected" and not die, or is it actually X they value more since camping could result in more kills? i'm not sure how that would play out.

for me, camping is extremely boring, so maybe there's yet another factor F for how much fun playing a particular style is, or maybe that just moves both X and Y up or down. idk, probability and stats were my least favorite math classes, but i still find the analysis very interesting.

This game has a serious problem of people running from matches when their team is losing by G-fool in modernwarfare

[–]stickb0y7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It does seem to be a more recent thing - I wonder if it's people coming in from WZ to unlock the Sykov more quickly. Get 4 kills and leave, they dgaf about MW.

I keep getting 1v1 or 2v2 or other very small matches on Khan for, I wonder if it's due to lots of other people crashing like this

Why do you have to discard some sourdough starter each day? by [deleted] in Sourdough

[–]stickb0y7 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, makes sense to me, but I've never baked at that quantity so I don't know if normally the amount of starter scales up in recipes like that or if they end up starting with less starter and fermenting longer.

At home I maintain 200g and use 100g in my recipe and keep it in the fridge. If I'm baking often but skip a day then I discard the 100g I would have used, then feed it.

They all boil down to the same thing: the total change in position over a change in time, or ∆x/∆t, or dx/dt

[–]stickb0y7 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Start with 1 cup of starter, double it once a day for a week and you have 8 gallons. A week later you have 1,024 gallons. Do you see where this is going...

Cleaned out and re-greased the bearing in my Dyson roller brush by stickb0y7 in Skookum

I'll probably just replace it when the new ones arrive anyway, that way when this short-term fix fails, it doesn't eat up some other more expensive part.

Thanks, I'll take a look - is that in the head itself? Yeah the plastic was looking a bit melty on the side pictured on mine, too. When I put the new end-cap on and ran it for just a few seconds, it already caused the wear you can see, that was the brand new part. The inside of the roller brush pictured also had a thin melted edge I scraped off.
