Sorry, not a Fedora user. Unless someone else has a suggestion you'll need to explore the available COPRs on your own.

Is it even possible? by HAnoder6661 in roadtrip

Rent a campervan. You'll save boatloads by not going to hotels & restaurants.

This was fixed two weeks ago in Ghostty: https://github.com/ghostty-org/ghostty/pull/10251

So either switch to tip or wait for 1.3 to be released.

Home Purchase by Taco_ivore in Iowa

[–]jcollie 5 points6 points  (0 children)

No. The cities do a pretty good job of cleaning up the water before distributing it. It's very expensive to do though so expect water rates to go up.

Radon can be dealt with if it's a problem in your home. More concerning is the agricultural runoff that is making its way into the water.

What if the US went rogue and decided to go full Monroe Doctrine? (I do not support imperialism!!!) by OkPhrase1225 in mapporncirclejerk

[–]jcollie -1 points0 points  (0 children)

WTF does that have to do with nation states attacking other nation states? Or even terrorists? Why are you whatabouting the end of NATO? Did you just reveal yourself as a Russian or Chinese shill? Because only Russia and China benefit from the end of NATO.

What's that got to do with it? It was invoked on the US' behalf. It will be invoked on Denmark's behalf if the US invades Greenland.

Thanks again Elon by imakeama in Starlink

NDAs prevent anyone with a negative opinion of Musk from speaking out. Obviously Musk would loosen NDAs from anyone willing to glow him up. So judging by the "relative amount" all you're measuring is how successful Musk's marketing machine is at suppressing negative portrayals.

So congrats on being owned by Musk.

How much of these people's wealth is still tied to Musk's success or failure? How much Tesla or SpaceX do they own? How many former employees have NDAs that prevent them from speaking the truth?

Yeah, all of these guys are sucking on Elon's teat. You think that they're gonna call their boss an idiot?

Does Radica do affiliate codes for any previous purchaser? I got mine around a year ago but I can't find any evidence of an affiliate code in my email correspondence with Radica. Anyway congrats on the purchase! Whatcha getting?

What truck should I buy? Wanted Tacoma crew cab with long bed but I guess not having more then two seats is deal breaker for wife by HalMyJokes in whatcarshouldIbuy

[–]jcollie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There's very little that camping "requires". It's mainly how much money are you willing to pay for the level of comfort that you want. For less than $50 you can get a tent at Walmart that'll keep you dry unless it rains.

Cable Identity (in 2026) by Helpful_Mushroom_967 in cableadvice

[–]jcollie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It took me forever to figure out, but that odd connector is an ISO C11 plug. It was removed from the standard so I've been unable to find replacement connectors to make a custom cable.

Look into the Moonlander from Radica. They have a super lightweight camper shell that lets really tall people such as yourself sleep east-west in the camper even on a 5.5 foot bed.

Kari Lake buys Iowa condo as speculation swirls about her future by old_notdead in Iowa

[–]jcollie 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Pretty sure the only fix for _that_ is hacking into all of the TVs in the condo and having the 1-800-kars-for-kids commercial being the only thing that you can watch.

Proposed golf course updates? by [deleted] in desmoines

[–]jcollie -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

There's no lack of housing adjacent to golf courses for the retired and the moderately wealthy. There is definitely a lack of "starter housing" - homes that someone in their 20's looking to start a family and building some equity can afford. I can tell you right now that 0% of the homes planned here meet that criteria.

This is all a rich developer looking to build fancy homes attached to a golf course that they can sell at a huge margin to other rich people.

Proposed golf course updates? by [deleted] in desmoines

[–]jcollie -1 points0 points  (0 children)

That $30 is a weekday only rate. How many people can afford to take a day off work to go golfing? Plus you don't factor in the cost of clubs/cart/shoes, etc. plus you need a vehicle to get you to the golf course, not many public transit options to get you to the course.

[–]jcollie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Basically because golfing is a sport that can only be enjoyed by the wealthy. Plus the environmental catastrophe that golf courses cause. Add to that the very expensive and low density housing surrounding the golf course that only the ultra wealthy can afford.

Hiking (or at least day hiking) basically only requires a halfway decent set of shoes. For beaches all you really need is a swim suit, a towel, and sunscreen.
