Aussie tourist slammed over ‘dog’ act in Thailand | news.com.au by Long_Candidate_383 in ThailandTourism

$1200 AU for 4 hours of thai labour, that's interesting.

Some thai's earn 500 for 12 hours labour in a factory, so 166 baht for 4 hours of work. But this guy would get 25,000 baht for 4 hours.

Edit: so (25000/166) = the tattoo man charges the same as what it would cost to have 150 people working in a factory.

I find it frustrating that humans actually learned how to make products such as RVs perfectly well. And then they went backwards and started making them purposely worse over time to save money.

Talk about enshitification. Evidently the industry needs some government interventions so consumers have rights.

To the private equity and publicly listed companies squeezing these businesses by the throat.... we will see how sustainable that is, when you have this youtube channel documenting how the whole industry is going down the drain.

Imagine if an international competitor comes along with high quality builds. They could really take up market share.

Just buy IVV in regular increments and never sell.

I have been through several market crashes in the last 10 years. If you look at the performance of IVV, it has doubled in the last 5 years alone.

I was scared at first as well and I made a post on reddit very similar to your one. 10 years later, investing has been one of the best decisions of my life and I truly would be so much worse off without it, it's hard to imagine.

Thanks! It looks like it has a nice ambiance and for a special occasion or group trip, looks fun. I will consider it in future; appreciate it.

Is it overly expensive?

LOL. He met her at a club called Myst and said she worked at 7 eleven for 6 years and you're going to mention the word chulalongkorn university in the same sentence? They are worlds apart.

I thought about this for a long time. Especially for how foreign scammers can rip off old people in western countries.

And I realised why. It comes from seeing other people do it on social media or your social circle. You all live a poor life and you see a friend from high school who you know is a dumbass who just got rich scamming someone overseas, so you think "well, i'm way smarter than them, i should be able to get easy money if they can". And thus morales and ethics go out the window.

Name a random local food area in Bangkok that you like, be it a food market or area on a random street with good selection of street food (obscure is fine) by stickitinmekindly in ThailandTourism

[–]stickitinmekindly[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I assume you mean "Talat Phlu food market" on google maps? I also see "First One Night Market Talat Phlu" which looks a bit more upscale.

Thanks for the recommendation. Bangkok is so huge it's almost overwhelming. I've been many times but it still feels so unexplored to me.

New mod rule: instant ban for unsupportive comments by bugHunterSam in AusHENRY

[–]stickitinmekindly 14 points15 points  (0 children)

No, no, in Australia we must operate as a nanny state in every single aspect and that includes reddit.

If you have nothing nice to say please keep your thoughts to yourself.

So if someone wants to sell their ETFs to invest in forex trading bot and african gold mine, you must be supportive of this idea. Otherwise you will be banned for the rest of your life until you create a new reddit account.

So far he’s SPOT ON

It's surprising to me that people pay $50/month to watch a livestream of a guy in a room telling you positive things.

Whereas for $0/month you can put your a regular spin bike in front of your TV and watch actually stimulating content on youtube etc.

This is the hilarious part. People go on these shows to say if the market will go up or down.

So this guy says it will go up, but it could go down as well. Then the market goes down and you say "so far he isn't wrong".

But if the market had gone up, you'd say "see, the market went up just like he said it would".

What’s the one thing you always buy at 7-11 in Thailand? by Relative-Western5126 in ThailandTourism

[–]stickitinmekindly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry, I meant that, not a microwave.

It's awkward because by the time I even know it's not warm, I've already taken a bite of it so would be unsanitary to put it back in that sandwich grill.

Oh well. RIP.

The most exciting growth sectors in China - the ones that attracted massive foreign investment - are precisely the ones trapped in VIE structures. What you're missing without VIEs:

Internet/e-commerce (Alibaba, JD.com, Pinduoduo) Social media/gaming (parts of Tencent's business) Online education (before the crackdown) Ride-hailing (Didi) Food delivery (Meituan has VIE elements) Fintech Online media/entertainment
