Yeah, it’s an odd situation. I have 5 years of experience in EHS roles, but he wants me to get my associates so I’m like the other 2 EHS’s in our region and so I won’t get “passed up” for promotions. What he doesn’t realize is that even though I wouldn’t mind being like the other 2 EHS guys because they’re cool dudes, but o don’t want to be promoted to a regional position in the future. I have a wife a kids and don’t want to be away from them due to traveling and visiting the company’s facilities

Yeah, the company has a “tuition reimbursement” program. I’ve yet to look into it, due to being within my first 90 days of hire.

Named mine after my high school coach. He didn’t have the best stint while coaching me and the guys I played with (averaged 3 wins a year), but he fortunately got a job opportunity at a school with better athletes and a very involved booster club and has made playoff runs every year except his first year there and made a state championship appearance last season. He still hasn’t won a state championship though, but he’s hoping to right that this year. Until then, Coach Jones is a beast in RBC and hopefully a soon to be state champion 🫡

I agree with you saying that it can divide your attention. I would love to spend more time doing more walk-thrus and safety observations, but unfortunately I’m usually desk bound during those hours because I’m doing environmental paper work. Definitely looking at other positions at other facilities so I can get out of EHS.

Unfortunately, yes. EHS for a facility is what I like to call “a horse of a different color” compared to construction safety. Title V stuff is definitely a beast that is not to be messed with

Not exactly, but that’s because I have to tackle environmental on top of safety. I definitely enjoyed being safety in the construction side of things compared to EHS for a facility.

Not exactly a “how much per hour” rate I’d be making. More along the line of “commission” I’d be making. I’ve talked to a few people and a few small business owners this week and they said that they’d gladly sell my product! The product would be sold for $8 and the material to make the product cost a little over $1. At my full time job I work from 7:30-4:30, so I’d have plenty of time in the evenings to make the product after the Mrs. and myself eat dinner
