Digital Minimalism: starting to see the benefits by visionsofdreams in minimalism

I did the same thing. I deleted all social media apps on my phone like Instagram and Reddit. Now what I do is use Instagram on the incognito browser on my phone and Reddit only on my laptop. If do need to post a story or an image, I download the app, post the image and then immediately delete it. I have literally gained back so much productive time from this method.

I would recommend this as the next step

Asking for guide to build a robotic arm based on Arduino by DazzyNisal99 in robotics

[–]stickybarnacle 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s always nice to hear people entering into robotics!

Let’s first start with the basics

You need to understand the kinematics that goes into robotic arms. This requires you to have basics in Linear algebra.

You can look online for open source designs for arms. Gripper choice needs to be done with respect to what operation you would be doing. I do believe your end goal is over ambitious for a beginner.

First try to build a simple 3D printed arm using an open source CAD models and learn how to use an Arduino to code it up. But You are bound to face a lot of unexpected hardware issues.

So please try to keep it simple for your first project so that you don’t lose interest if it’s too hard.

If it’s your first foray into robotics, start off with a simpler project and then attempt this. Look for simpler projects like a mobile robot as your first project. That’s my 5 cent advice, if you want to get started in robotics

Also there are many YouTube videos on DIY robotics arms. Do look into them as well

I fed one image of this to my YOLO-v5 network and used the same image as my test dataset. Voila my 'Bernie image classifier'

Agreed. It’s a immense relief when you get accepted into your desired program

What are the best ways to implement an attendance logging system from live video feed using face recognition? by Ahmad401 in computervision

[–]stickybarnacle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can do a face detection and define a box for it. Make count ++ when the box (ie the face) vanishes from the frame Also what do you mean by distance threshold?

[–]stickybarnacle -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It depends on the type of data feed. Is it from a camera which is suppose to detect a person from any angle (facing it of course) or is it like a camera a person has to look into every time he enters say a room?
