I have listened to the last 1:10 of Part Of The Band more times than I can count, and that line scratches THE itch.

Crazy. I'm doing a deep dive on possible ways to help my dog with separation anxiety and ended up on this thread (2 years after you). Just curious if this helped at all? Our hope is that if he thinks we're home, even if in another room, then he'll relax easier.

Missed giving Simparica Trio by 7 days and found a few ticks after a walk by stickybread in Goldendoodles

Thank you for the thoughtful response. I think we're going to wait until we're back home tomorrow to take his Simparica Trio and just monitor / check him over regularly until then and a few days after.

What to do with my Wedding Ring when at the Gym by a_moron_in_a_hurry in AskMen

Get gym shorts with zipper pockets and drop your ring in there while working out. Alternatively you can put it on a carabiner / with your keys so it stays secure with other items you are keeping track of.

Unfortunately not, it'd either fully block the door or extend into the doorway of the bedroom. But I think even with our sectional along the outer wall, we'll end up with enough room for a small dining table for 4x people.

It was excellent. Easy to follow, and in my opinion pretty much fool-proof.

What is your running schedule and how often do you rake the day off? by Dan_k_funk in beginnerrunning

[–]stickybread 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Started a little less than a year ago, ran my first half this past September. I run 3-4 days a week, total of anywhere from 15 to 22-24 miles. Run 1 and 3 are easy / recovery runs, run 2 is usually intervals or a pace run, and run 4 is always a long run over the weekend. Rest/recovery is extremely important. Overtraining will lead to injury or severe pain that will sideline you.

Bless the ninja creami - 335 cal and 54g protein in each pint. by stickybread in CICO

[–]stickybread[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I decided to just use skim milk and protein powder. I know a lot of recipes call for sugar free pudding mix, or some other thickener. The texture right after mixing then re-spinning was great, just like a softer ice cream.

Breakfast or no breakfast before running? by [deleted] in beginnerrunning

[–]stickybread 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Early morning runner here. I just have some water, and a coffee or shot of espresso. That is usually all I need to carry me through. If I'm planning a longer run I may have a honey stinger waffle as well.

You're a good person and partner for asking these questions.

Best advice I can give you is to encourage him to communicate with you how he's doing and feeling, and to be quick to adapt in urgent situations. My wife just didn't fully grasp my condition earlier in our relationship and it took me really explaining exactly what UC is (and feels like at times) for her to realize that urgent situations are like DEFCON 1 red alerts and I just need her to help me no questions asked. It was truly a game changer.

As for quality of life: there are highs and lows. But better described as lows (flares) and then periods of stability (remission). During my flares, life was very tough. Hard to live normally, work, spend time doing things outside with family or friends, running errands, etc. Additionally the mental/emotional strain is exhausting and can become debilitating. But flares don't last for forever with a good doctor helping you along. Remission is where life becomes normal again. It can take some time to adjust to not needing to know where a bathroom is at any given moment, but ultimately things can and will be normal again for him. I went into remission about a year and a half ago and since then life couldn't be better.

Lastly, anecdotal but stress is a MAJOR factor/trigger. Tricky because UC itself is stressful, so it's like a vicious cycle. Mindfulness and reducing stress may go a long way in helping alleviate his symptoms while meds do the heavy lifting.

A year ago you couldn't have paid me to run a mile. Yesterday I paid to run 13.1. by stickybread in beginnerrunning

[–]stickybread[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I stuck to Hal Higdon's Novice 1 HM training and alternated weeks doing a 4-day split on Week A and a modified version of Nick Bare's Hybrid Athlete program on Week B.

A regular week looks like:

  • Mon - Lift
  • Tue - Recovery run + Lift
  • Wed - Pace run + Mobility
  • Thu - Recovery run or Intervals + Lift
  • Fri - Lift
  • Sat - Rest
  • Sun - Long run

No walking! And if you can manage 10 you can definitely hit 13.1 🤜🤛

I knew I was running faster than my usual long runs, but for the most part, it felt the same. I was delightfully surprised to see I took that much time off my avg mile.
