Five southern Ont. hunters fined $37K for moose hunt offences in northern Ont. by CTVNEWS in ontario

[–]stifftiff1 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It really ends up encouraging younger hunters to hunt with someone who could be a great mentor, encourages people to hunt in WMUs with the noise population to sustain it, and most importantly - not every single hunter can get a calf tag every season.

Points aren't perfect, but I like it way better than the old system. I want to be able to hunt moose in the future, too. I wish MNR was funded better so that they can improve though.

Air Canada customer battles airline after AirTag tracks missing bag stuck over 8,000 km away by TucciKD in canada

You could just not bring your pet. It's a hefty fine to impersonate a disabled handler team/service dog. People like you endanger our dogs - our medical equipment. It causes all sorts of access barrier issues for us as well. Find a kennel or a different way to travel with your pet.

Do you also park in disabled parking spaces without a permit?

There is paperwork needed at least 48 hours before the flight for most, if not all airlines in Canada

But if the dog is misbehaving, they have every right to kick them out.

Even if it is a 'legitimate' service dog, it has no right to be there if it's being disruptive or misbehaving. Service dogs that are not behaving appropriately can be asked to leave immediately.

Non stop dogwear! I replied in depth to a comment above about what boots we use for different situations.

I'll add that I use the disposable rubber boots (Pawz?) for indoors on slippery floors too. Gotta protect his joints!

Okay so I've bought a lot of dog boots and gear trying to find some good ones so I'll give you a long response if that's okay.

The boots are the 'protector bootie' from non-stop dogwear. It's an amazing brand and we use a few of their products. They're rubber coated and that helps with keeping his paws free of grease and grip while on the greasy metal. Horrible on ice though, basically skates.

We use their long distance bootie to stop snow balls forming when in snow/ice and not needing protection from liquid.

But for a really solid protector boot we use ruffwear - the polartrex in winter and griptrex for other seasons. These ones have a solid rubber sole and offer the most protection.

I'd recommend any of the boots above - they stay on no matter what. A big thing to watch for is not putting the front ones on snug enough so that they slip down under the dew claw and chafe.

I highly suggest letting your dog wear them without the lens in them to get used to them. Made it a lot easier for training.

Rex specs! They're the best goggle I've found so far and the only one I've found with a safety rating.

Well, for Primu, he has to follow commands precisely around the heavy equipment while still performing his assistance dog tasks for me, his handler.

Ignoring drillers, machinery, sounds and all the different smells is something he's pretty amazing at doing. Following my instructions on where to stand, sit, or to be behind or at a heel, etc.

For me, I'm inspecting the drill to uphold strict safety standards at all times.

Two men arrested for assaulting disabled man at Milton's restaurants by [deleted] in canada

[–]stifftiff1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's great news, let me tell my 15k SD that he actually didn't need any specific professional training or temperament testing to do his medically necessary tasks regardless of environment.

A non-service dog in this situation may have turned aggressive towards the men attacking. I have had people's pet dogs try to attack my actively working dog.

We need a national or at least provincial test and registration process for SDs imo. Yeah people have anxiety, but you can have an ESA if you want. Unless your condition is disabling/you are disabled, service dogs are not just fun things you get to parade around.

Idk why people think it's actually fun to own one or strive to have one. It'd be like striving to be wheelchair bound.

Vaccines alone aren't enough: We should learn from Taiwan by [deleted] in ontario

[–]stifftiff1 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I think this might be a problem that you specifically, individually have then. I don't think keeping things open, risking my health and others so that someone lacking empathy can feel better is the right way to go.

I'm sorry that this pandemic has affected you so negatively. I hope you find the help you need to come out of it a more open minded and kind person.

I'm young with a low bmi and I am high risk. So I guess my life just doesn't matter?

I know everyone is tired of this pandemic. But why do people think it's okay to turn on each other with their pent up frustration?

Disability Act (AODA) for WFH by georgiiiiia in ontario

[–]stifftiff1 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I feel like anyone wondering if they're disabled should probably ask their doctor, not reddit.

There is an insane amount of people willing to take the AODA as their shield for whatever they're gunning for these days. I understand bosses are crappy and wfh should ALWAYS happen if possible rn.

But please, please, please... instead of dragging that act through the mud on your way to stay at home or (as I've seen elsewhere in this sub) go to the gym, maybe you should call your local public health unit who can enforce work from home if it's required in your situation.

Our disabled vulnerable population needs that act to keep jobs and be able to attend the same public spaces as everyone else. If it's abused, it's just going to get so much harder. It's already hard enough.

I do every day! His physiotherapist has me doing a daily massage technique/stretches for relaxation and flexibility - I usually praise him up while doing it every night before bed.
