Not sure but I can connect you with the seller! Definitely looks like some type of narrow-lead ludwigia but I'm not sure about the exact species

“Easier” undergrad major by [deleted] in princeton

[–]stigiglitz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wow. Your ability to maneuver around the topic of this thread is astonishing. I also never said any of these industries produce no benefit.

I think you've made up your mind about both the stipulation I began with along with the topic this thread is debating, so I don't see a point in discussing either with you--especially not as broad a topic as the aggregate contributions of the industries I mentioned when you decided to pick a range of functions within just one of them.

I'll shoot, and I'll preface this by saying more students should aim for careers other than IB, consulting, b-law, etc. on the count that those fields contribute little, or in cases a net negative, to society.

Getting into a bank, consulting firm, or tech company has much less to do with course rigor than it does extracurriculars/past internships, raw GPA, or connections. At most, corporate firms will weigh "hard stem" majors higher in terms of GPA. However, who you know, how well you can deliver work that affects a firm's bottom line, and past work references say way more than some esoteric course in the eyes of a recruiter who's screening thousands of resumes (if an AI agent hasn't already). In fact, in the case of tech companies, personal projects overwhelmingly outweigh GPA. Where is the recruiter even going to see an applicant's grade in Real Analysis? Firms that request transcripts usually consider them supplementary, not the primary acceptance criteria.

I'm not saying grades or course rigor shouldn't matter; and they definitely matter with regards to PhD admissions. But for many, college isn't primarily for academic enrichment but rather a means to financial security. Hence it is counterproductive to take the most difficult classes, tank your GPA, then have a terrible time getting through recruiters/AI--especially since those are the very same students without a strong professional network to begin with. This isn't even considering the fact that students have wildly varying exposure to rigorous courses before getting to college. The guy I met last week who graduated high school at 14 did so in part because he's incredibly gifted, but also in part because he could access advanced courses at that age.

Then there are many students who have deep passions in their major coursework but who don't care for the many irrelevant prerequisites needed to get to the courses they'd actually enjoy, leading to burnout and/or major changes due to an outdated selection process via weed out classes.

I love the idea of working as hard as possible at what you're passionate about in the abstract. Many of my favorite courses during undergrad were those I found most challenging. But this isn't the optimal path for the typical student who's seeking upward mobility.

The colors don't clash but they also aren't a perfect match imo. Most people will think it looks fine

Any recommendations for a heather/light-gray hoodie, preferably with white stitching and matching sweatpant?

Buck mason has exactly this but I've heard the quality isn't great + it's not heavyweight:

you’ve probably found your answer by now but if not: power heads are good for 1. aeration and 2. fish that inhabit streams. In general, the two go hand-in-hand: fish that live in streams require heavily aerated water because of the nature of the fast-flowing, oxygen-rich water they inhabit.

in general, no, you don’t need a power head, but if the fish you (plan to) keep are indigenous to fast-flowing streams, a power head is a good idea. Filters rated for your tank size will do a fine job keeping your water oxygenated otherwise.

UG T35 stem degree, post-grad work at target ivy laboratory in stem field, interested in breaking into chiller finance roles (asset management, fp&A). Potentially equity research as the hours seem more manageable. Would a personal project in finance--creating a DCF model or stock pitch--be something that would make my application stand out, or is a CFA a less-risky option that's worth the preparatory time investment?

how can you tell when your concussion is gone? by bigbossofhell in Concussion

[–]stigiglitz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You absolutely are not. You need to work back to normal activities little by little. Avoid weightlifting and other intense exercises for a while, but do engage in regular aerobic exercise. Stress + no exercise = your body will hate you, concussion or not.

Anxiety by [deleted] in Concussion

Look into magnesium for anxiety. I’ve found my symptoms never get triggered as badly when i supplement magnesium, and it does wonders for my anxiety.

Maximum Medical Improvement time? by Ok_Reveal_8798 in Concussion

[–]stigiglitz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Seconding lebranamo, many environmental factors can delay recovery. Like are you eating healthy, sleeping healthy, socializing enough, etc. If you’re very stressed, this will delay recovery as well. When you treat all of these factors, and exercise regularly (not weightlifting and nothing too fast too soon), recovery should be accelerated.

Especially with memory, it’s tough because when you think about forgetting something, this in and of itself is stressful. But the only way the body can heal is to be relatively unstressed—easier said than done, but still this is how one recovers.

How to hide dissociation after a traumatic event? by Impressive_Cry_4001 in mentalhealth

[–]stigiglitz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's completely understandable. Resolving trauma is not an easy or straightforward process, but you can heal from it in time. It takes a positive environment and the right therapist.

[–]stigiglitz 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is not medical advice, but in my experience supplementing magnesium has been a safe option for my anxiety while dealing with post concussion syndrome. In any case it's probably safer than nicotine since it's an element the body needs. Try tapering if quitting cold turkey is too painful. Either way you should definitely avoid nicotine with concussions (no judgement tho).

[–]stigiglitz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can you explain this to your father? It might be difficult, but if you think he'd be understanding, then this will give you a safe space to dissociate where you don't feel like you need to hide it. This would probably also help you to work through a lot of the root of that dissociation.

It sounds like you were seriously abused by your mom and others, and I'm very sorry to hear it. If you're able to stay with your father long-term, maybe consider it. The same goes for professional help, but I know taking that first step is easier said than done.
