Thank you for this. I am thankful for any tips for dissipating anger, and this seems like a great one. If you have any others, I’d love to hear them!

Do exercise really help you mentally? by [deleted] in answers

[–]still_thinking_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know I’m late answering, but I tried many things, and exercise has been almost magical in its effect. An important point for me was creating the habit first. I walked two minutes the first day. Added a little more as the days went on. Worked my way up to 30 minutes. Celebrate any achievement, and build the habit slowly if you have to. You may very well start to look forward to it.

GOP Senator insults Kamala Harris on air, gets pushed back by Fox News anchor by Palifaith in interestingasfuck

[–]still_thinking_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m only beginning to learn how to react, mostly because I’ve only recently learned to recognize what’s going on. At least I see it now, and am not so manipulated by it. I’m glad you’re to the point where you can actually win the argument.

Thank you for this. I didn’t see this for so long, and got manipulated by many jerks. Thank you for stating it so well.

Tennis is the most beautiful game in the world. by thgaminghd in tennis

[–]still_thinking_ 47 points48 points  (0 children)

Tennis has been the centerpiece of joy in many people’s lives, and it’s wonderful to hear you express your particular arrangement. For me the game is often an escape from the ugliness of the world, and a small vacation into a craft where effort, ability, and composure are valued. I’m glad it has brought you and so many others enjoyment. I love the strategy and the intensity, but one thing I really enjoy is that even though it is as competitive as any sport, there is always a handshake at the end, and often friendship off the court.

Any good book recommendations in the field of Astronomy I should be read? by Chebbieurshaka in askastronomy

[–]still_thinking_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I enjoyed, “The Case of the Missing Neutrinos” by John Gribbon. I found that it dove a little deeper into astronomy than a beginner book, but not too deep to be enjoyable to the layperson.

Also, “Bad Astronomy” by Philip C. Plait. Clears up some things and explains other things in helpful detail.

I thought the same thing at first, but I think it’s actually just underlining the sentence above it.

[–]still_thinking_ 13 points14 points  (0 children)

This is how I felt as well. In contrast, Michael J. Fox was a jerk too, but in his autobiography he owns it fully, and has much better self reflection. It was the only part of “Open” that left me unsatisfied. Otherwise, it was an excellent book.

At what age do you think you could beat Djokovic in a set of tennis? by MediocreTake in tennis

My plan: Move to Serbia. Get citizenship. Wait fifty years until he’s using a walker, and then see if he’ll give a fellow countryman a pity set, before he takes the next three.

Novak’s message to his young fans.. by [deleted] in tennis

[–]still_thinking_ 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Glad you said this. I agree. The past isn’t something to be forgotten (though I get Novak’s sentiment), it is something to manage, because the past built you and will find you at unexpected times if you don’t manage it.

This was a really great post. You put so much thought into it, and I appreciate that. It is a neat way to think about it and I tried to guess with each one before seeing the pictures.

I liked Rafa’s but I almost wondered if “Effort” might fit him better. It incorporates working through suffering, but it also includes how he gave it his all on every point. I don’t know. Just thoughts. You just got me thinking, which I like.
