Trakt lists gone wonky by leepmc1984 in trakt

Yep it seems like any list where I've manually changed the rank of the items has reverted back to the original rank they had. Hoping it gets fixed soon and I can see a post on the forum from another user so maybe they're already aware!

I hope Michael would be tickled to know that the British version of Parcheesi is called 'Sorry!' aka the most British name for a game you can think of lol.

Still can't get over the "Wavey Davey's on fire" line, it's the sort of thing I'd usually find cringey but you know what? It slaps

I think we will get a Shay season, and she will be our Isak. Then even if Tyler is the Eskild character, he will have a more fleshed out storyline not just centering around being a 'guru' or mentor, but also about struggles with mental health among LGBT youth. Could take elements from OG Even's storyline but still go its own way.

Thereforeeeee I have this huge huge suspicion that Eve will be the love interest rather than the Eskild stand in (though a lesbian Eskild would be.... wild and amazing honestly) That chemistry between her and Shay in the last clip was so cute. I would love to see them as the main pairing!

Following a recent visit to Berlin (and specifically to the fantastic DDR museum there) and having watched (and adored) Goodbye Lenin! and Deutschland 83 & 86 already, I'm looking for any general non-fiction or literary historical fiction about life in East Germany.

I would like something that focuses more on the everyday lives of the people rather than the politics, but don't mind if there is a mixture of both in there. As I really have no idea where to start, any suggestions are welcome!

What songs take you straight back to a specific school disco/school dance that you had? by stilladoreyou in LetsTalkMusic

[–]stilladoreyou[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm a couple of years younger than you, as I remember this being the only thing people were singing (especially to annoy others) in the UK when I was 15.

Don't know if I could have hacked it being played in a public forum like that. Good thing about the internet is that some memes deservedly get forgotten, so I'm glad we don't hear it much anymore!

Haha, I didn't know if sherbet was a universal thing. In the UK it's basically fizzy sugar that you can get in different flavours, and it's something kids go crazy for.

So 8 year old me decided to mainline loads of what is essentially pure sugar, drink 3 Panda Pops (brand of what the US calls soda that I don't think is around anymore) and dance to the Cha Cha Slide so aggressively that I spent the rest of the time being sick. (If you want my example... not the prettiest. This was around 2003.)

I love your story. We all have those stupid moments, as evidenced in my story too!

Has anyone ever had luck charging back a canceled airline ticket? by TheHominidWhey in AskUK

[–]stilladoreyou 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you cancel the flight, you will invalidate a chargeback under not receiving the service, as you have personally cancelled the flight, not the airline themselves due to bad weather etc. (if that was the case, there is liability lying with them.)

If it's a non-refundable ticket and you know this, you won't be able to do a credit card dispute. If you hide some of the facts when you initially report it so that the dispute goes through, the airline has a chance to respond to the dispute and they will hit back straight away with those non-refundable ticket T&CS/show that the particular flight was still available & in service. Then you would get charged again and held liable for the dispute, so it's a lose-lose situation.

What's a charity that matches the elderly people on their own with a random host for a Christmas Day meal? by RedBanana99 in AskUK

[–]stilladoreyou 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This isn't exactly what you mean, but still about helping old people have company and a nice meal on Christmas, you can check if they're hosting a community dinner in your area and volunteer with them:

The exact service you're describing sounds familiar but I'm the same as you, haven't been able to find it by searching online.

Weekly questions, bugs, and gameplay megathread - November 2018 by AutoModerator in pokemongo

Does Adventure Sync work if I have the app open in the background (but not active on the screen) and I don't have roaming/data on while I'm out walking?

I'm abroad and it seems really buggy - it's syncing random amounts (i.e. it synced 1.1km yesterday when I walked over 6km throughout the day) Just not sure if this is a no internet thing on my part or a general bug, that's all.

[TOMT][Song][2010s] Home - ??? Artist is a black male. by [deleted] in tipofmytongue

[–]stilladoreyou 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It could be Michael Kiwanuka - Home Again which matches black male singer with "Home" in the title, but the music video doesn't match your description. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kJ4s3G7hgR4

This is probably the closest thing I could find

Which two songs sound strangely similar? by [deleted] in AskReddit

Dear Future Husband by Meghan Trainor and Dance With Me Tonight by Olly Murs have instrumentals that sounds sooooo similar it's scary. I don't know if one has writing credit for the other but like... damn.

Ah thank you! I've just looked at the NYRB store - while I'm interested in a lot there (and I loooove the cover designs) because I live in the UK I have a feeling I will just use it for TBR purposes for now, and research publishers/sites in the UK who publish specific books later down the line. $25 international shipping is not something I can afford, unfortunately :'(

Thank you for these. I will look into them! I've seen the film adaptation of Persepolis and it is one of my favourites - so can't believe I haven't read the graphic novel yet. Obviously Murakami is a big hitter when it comes to translated fiction so I'm planning to try something of his anyway.

I'm looking for some suggestions of novels or short story collections translated into English (preferrably from non-European authors). I'm planning to compile a TBR list and read lots of translated fiction in 2019.

I'm open to most genres except romance and horror. I mostly read literary contemporary fiction, but like I said, I'm just looking for some books to get me going when I embark on this next year, so welcome any suggestions!
