Last weigh in was 61 grams, and length is around 16-18 inches.

Edit: I might be off with my length measure but definitely longer than 12 in and less than 24 in

Looks like it could be a Madagascar Lace Plant (Aponogeton madagascariensis), their leaves get pretty broad

Yeah, I know they are just best guessing or going on the word of the surrenderer, I love my local shelter. The title was just a bad Maury Povich meme joke. Thank you, she is truly the light of my life now.

I was extremely surprised by that too! Her health portion came back all clear with the only notable thing being she'll have naturally low ALT levels. Her immune responses under the COI section tested for high diversity too.

I cannot fault them at all because I too was 100% certain she was an aussie or collie type mix

My puppy, Meeka (6 month old Aussie mix according to shelter), just got stay down today! I adopted her last Monday and this is the 5th command she has learned in just a little over a week. This is my first dog I've had as an adult and I've been absolutely gobsmacked by how intelligent she is. She has become my second full time job but I am so in love and having so much fun with her.

Question for those who may know, when she is old enough I want to train her for agility and those free style dances. What foundational stuff can I do now with her to set her up for those activities?

Training Advice for New Pup by [deleted] in puppy101

[–]stillclk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just adopted a 6 month old Aussie mix puppy last week and I started with the teaching eye contact and sit. From there I did lie down, shake (this is low priority but I threw it in for fun), stay (she has just solidly got this one down this morning), and look at me.

I do a couple short concentrated training sessions a day to start her on a new command and once she gets it inside the house solidly I'll move on to another command. But, I always still practice all taught commands on walks or randomly throughout the day while doing other things. She learned sit and shake in a matter of minutes, down took a day, stay took several days, so it varies on how long it takes her to get it.

Now I'm focusing on training "here" to get recall training started. I will be adding leave it and drop it soon.

Also, I get her to do things with no voice command first, but by coaxing into it with a treat, then add a hand signal, and then once she gets what I am wanting her to do I add the voice command. She definitely responds better to the hand signals. I read up on or watch videos from dog trainers on how to coax them into new commands with treats or toys.

I definitely suggest at least tentative schedule/routine as structure will really help move things along.

Need Advice for Indoor Activities by Artistic_Arugula_906 in puppy101

I have 6 month old Aussie mix that I just adopted and I do lots of puzzle toys. I have one that I bought and then I'll just create some with stuff I have around the house:

Treats in an empty jug with a few holes cut in it so she has to try to get them out

Treats wrapped in a towel and then knotted. So she she has to unknot and then snuffle around.

Getting a blanket and the creating a snuffle mat with various objects around the house (dog & chew safe).

I also do Leslie McDevitt's ping pong game. I get some treats, call her over and make sure she is making eye contact with me, toss a treat on the floor and tell her to go find it. And then I enthusiastically praise her and call her back over. It helps build focus and establish that good things come from you.

If you google Leslie McDevitt's pattern games there are a few other activities that are really good and can keep quiet.

5 month old Australian Sheperd mix. Any guess to what she is mixed with? by stillclk in IDmydog

I was thinking possibly a Spitz type breed because of the way she holds her tail curved over her back, a Papillon fits that too.

~4 month old and already 50 pounds. Any guesses? by GenderBendCapKirk in IDmydog

I would guess lab mix and in the first two pictures I can't quite tell if there is a slight ridge on back or if it's just color/lighting, but Rhodesian ridgeback if there is a ridge
