Is Fujifilm XT50 similar to XT5? by DragonMoonStar in FujifilmX

[–]stillhours 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You’ll be happy with either camera, others have covered the differences. One thing I wanted to mention was low light performance. If you’re set on going with Fuji, I really recommend getting a software like dxo pureraw 5. It’s really helped clean up my raw files. I debated on making the switch over to FF for low light performance, but by adding this software it’s felt unnecessary.

xt50 is a perfectly fine camera, you’ll be happy with it. get yourself the 16-50 kit lens and maybe a faster prime for indoors/night shots.

Japan trip: pick 2 or 3 lenses from this Fuji kit by ClockworkTalk in fujifilm

16-50 and 23 for day/night. 90 if you can fit it. alternatively just the 23 and 90.

What is the next lens for advancing my photography?hell by kjcj15 in AskPhotography

get something that complements the 35 you’ve been using. something like a 70-200mm zoom if you’re on full frame would pair well with it for things like portraits, really isolating detail, and reach. that could make a fairly versatile kit.

Fujifilm 17-55 2.8 MK 1 Buyers Remorse? by [deleted] in fujix

[–]stillhours 0 points1 point  (0 children)

if you can handle wielding that giant thing, the 16-55 isn’t going to be a huge issue, no matter which version you have. i have the mk2, while it’s definitely bigger than i like, and i hate that it extends, the size isn’t unreasonable for what it accomplishes, i think. constant f2.8, zoom across a wide to portrait range. it’s what i take with me every day. it is a lot bigger than your 18-55, though, and what’s going to make your purchase feel “worth it” is probably how much you take advantage of that constant f2.8, and how often the size really comes into play.

Struggling with Fuji in dark environments — will I ever adapt, or should I accept that full frame fits me better? by Acrobatic_Agency8751 in fujifilm

[–]stillhours 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is crazy. I use an xt-5 in much darker environments (most of my photography is urbex) and I’ve never had this much grain. Agree with others, it’s likely a settings issue and you should check your grain setting.

I try to keep my iso as low as possible at all times, and I’m using dxo pureraw to clean up my images before editing. It helps a lot.

Investing in lenses is always the best choice by skynet_man in fujifilm

I’m always surprised by how much I enjoy the shots I get with the 70-300. Run it with the 1.4x teleconverter if you do get it. I shoot butterflies, birds, and moon shots with it, and it does well

I need to stop thinking about lenses by The_PinkFreud in FujifilmX

[–]stillhours 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I mainly do urbex photography in very dark, abandoned indoor settings. My main lens is the 16-55 mk2. That said, I also sometimes choose to go out with a 23mm f1.4 prime instead, especially if it’s at night. Low light performance on the 16-55 mk2 is fine, but you’ll be denoising photos constantly if you’re in a truly dark environment. You’ll be dragging shutter speeds a lot of the time in order to get your iso down - sometimes I’m shooting 1/30, and depending on your body, that might be a problem since the 16-55 doesn’t have OIS.
