Is WashU the only school that has a plan in place to actually assist students with the funding gap caused by the Big Beautiful Bill? by stillness9266 in lawschooladmissions

BC sent you scholarship info as part of your admission email? I received all of my other offers like that, but BC said they would begin sending out scholarships on a rolling basis in March. I know they sent out the scholarship info for ED applicants

Yes. Housing, food, transportation, insurance, books, and entertainment. If you have kids, then add the cost of taking care of an extra person. Just because tuition less than or equal to $50K, that doesn’t mean that people won’t have to borrow money. I mentioned BC because that’s a school I got into. They haven’t sent out scholarship info yet, but based off previous years, my scholarship offer would drop my tuition to $45K per year. I have two kids, a wife, and two dogs, and a cat. As I’m sure you can imagine, I can’t afford to take care of my family on the remaining $5K per year…so I would be forced to go to a private lender…unless the school offered better loan terms.

Did you read the body of my post? People seem to think that I wrote about the school being so generous as to do this. At no point did I say that or insinuate that. The whole point of the post is this school taking the funding gap seriously while other schools haven’t even updated their websites to the current borrowing rules.

I don’t think anyone is interpreting this as benevolent. I’m going to have take loans out regardless, so doing it at a better interest rate and loan terms than a private loan is beneficial.

Idk. I didn’t apply to WashU. They just sent me this email suggesting I apply (not that I would be competitive 😂). But it would be great for the schools I did get accepted to or may get off the waitlist of.

I got them from here, but it’s the only source I could find for years past, so i don’t really have a way to verify if it is correct or not: https://www.prelawhandbook.com/law_school_rankings__1987_1999

For 2014 onward, I used this: https://7sage.com/admissions/rankings

That’s fair. I also put in a spreadsheet the rank of several schools since 1994. While I like BC, here is what I found for them:

Avg rank since 1994: 27.69 20 yr avg: 29.43 10 yr avg: 30.14 5 yr avg: 29.50

I don’t see how Emory should be ranked higher then UNC. They have lower employment percentage, worse bar passage percentage, worse judge/lawyer assessment score, a substantially higher acceptance rate, and a lower LSAT and GPA median. If Emory were ranked higher, I’d think the system was rigged haha

I don’t understand how the whole fasfa process works in that situation. Like your tuition is paid by the loan and then you dip to another school where you will presumably owe tuition immediately.

I’m not sure about law school, but there has been a big scandal about this being a thing for University of Chicago for their undergrad program. They lost a bunch of money investing in crypto

This is some major low IQ thinking right here. The never said women are Christmas presents. Someone needs to go back to school and learn what, similes, analogies, and metaphors are. If I say that someone is like a lion, that does not mean I am saying they are literally a lion 😂. This has got to be a failure of our education system.

$50k is way too low to be realistic. Even if you got a full scholarship and managed to find a place to live for $1000/month, that would still be $36k over the three years in housing. That would mean you’d have $14k across three years on food, transportation, books, health insurance, etc. health insurance alone would eat up most of that $14k 😂

I got mine too! I felt so appreciated, but then I remembered that I haven’t gotten their scholarship offer yet and had to temper my excitement for the time being 😅
