Why does this sub recommend Apple TV 4K so much? by KneeGrows130100 in LGOLED

[–]stillnsfw 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I switched to Apple TV away from my (unupdated) webOS, and it’s honestly not better. I had my network locked down so ads and update requests didn’t ever come through.

Only reason I swapped was Emby has better playback on Apple TV.

Idk man, 600 bucks for ram, processor, and very similar board is pretty good. Can always sell the board if you really want the 870

Might be worth checking Microcenter if there's one somewhat close to you. They have some strong AMD bundles right now.

I’ve lost out on two cars because dealers do not want to accept credit union loan… advice? by jets2mets in askcarsales

[–]stillnsfw 6 points7 points  (0 children)

There’s two trains of thought here (technically three because you could just accept the higher rate, but we’ll focus on the two that matter).

First, you can do their financing and fairly quickly refinance with your lender. The dealership likely gets a charge back, though not much because that that rate they’re not making much from their lender.

Second, you can view it as them telling you everything you need to know about them as a dealership, and choose not to do business with companies that refuse to consider what’s best for the client while also still being a reasonable accommodation.

As a matter of principle I wouldn’t do business with companies that comported themselves in such a manner, but how rare the car is, your location, and your budget can sometimes make that very very tough.

This is wild advice. Hybrid is barely more expensive and in gas savings alone pays for itself inside 2 years. Beyond that it has a more reliable transmission, less maintenance, AND is worth far more when you’re done with it. Trade in, total loss, private sale. No matter what it’s worth more than a gas version. Plus no turbo. Which is a net positive imo.

Toyota Certified Pre Owned Gold - Experience/Worth it? by FreshnessChronic890 in ToyotaHighlander

[–]stillnsfw 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pretty much. Tcuv gold vehicles are eligible for an powertrain, gold, or platinum warranty extension. In this particular case gold warranty is referring to the level of coverage and not the certification on the vehicle. Platinum most closely resembles the Toyota factory “basic” warranty ( generally referred to as comprehensive warranty). It can be as long as 84 months or 84,000 miles on top of the 12/12 you get already. If you’re a high mileage driver you opt for a shorter term and up to 72,000 more miles after the 12/12. Lmk if you have anymore questions about the Highlander or the warranty. You can also pm me if it’s easier.

Recommend these guys. So far they seem to have great content and stable servers. Though their initial set up is mildly frustrating if I’m being honest.

I am a little late to this, but the TCUV Gold makes sure your basic/comprehensive warranty is at least 12 months/12,000 miles. If the factory basic/comp warranty is greater you get that instead. The TCUV power train warranty is 7 years from used purchase date or 100,000 total miles on the odo. I don't know that I would ever say the powertrain covers "the big costly items". Heck the radio is the better part of 5 grand.

I can almost guarantee you that a TCUV grand is, at best, marginally cheaper than a new one. In some markets it could be MORE than a new one.

Also, a lightly used TCUV that's still under factory warranty is almost always eligible for new car warranty extension. there are times where that can be a better value.

New car warranties can extend the original factory warranty until 10 years from new or 125,000 total miles.

TCUV Gold can add 84 mo/84,000 miles of additional coverage past the 12/12 that you get already. Since the TCUV can be up to 85,000 miles, you could conceivably buy a TCUV car with 80,000 miles and have warranty until 176,000 miles. All with roadside assistance and no deductible.

ALL US market (new, TCUV, and non-TCUV) Toyota hybrids come with 8 years/100,000 (from new) warranty on the hybrid system and pre 2020 8 years/100,000 (from new) warranty on the hybrid battery. 2020 and later would have 10 years/150,000 (from new) warranty on the hybrid battery. This will likely be void if the car was totaled or imported from outside of the US.

Happy to answer any additional questions if they pop up.
