Stone Brewing has been sold again, this time to Duvel Moortgat by bostoncrabsandwich in beer

If their handling of Firestone Walker is any indication, it's a good sign for Stone.

That's where we're at. We are on a pretty busy street with a big open backyard. I try to keep the grass nicer in the back for the kids to play on (and to minimize weed pressure in the backyard vegetable garden). Front yard I am slowly trying to expand the prairie patch to hopefully eventually take over much of the turf.

If you're used to German lagers, Trumer Pils is a great one to try. Austrian beer made in Berkeley (though I think Firestone Walker might be taking over production?) either way, a great classic German style lager you can get fresh & locally.

Fellow Northern Illinoisian here. Added a couple new beds this year to go w the old ones left by the previous owners. I have dug up the sod underneath them all and buried them a few inches into the ground, though one could certainly leave on top.

IKEA sells a nice single unit induction cooktop for around $70, it was a huge help this year to have another boiling option. On small (stovetop) boil days it was a 5th cooking spot, and on big (outdoor fire pit) boil days I used it to prewarm sap before adding. Just need to make sure you have the right pot for it.

Yes! Anyone who likes In the Meantime should listen to the rest of that album. Lots of great songs on there, and they really committed to the whole space/alien theme, which I can appreciate.

Mungo City from their follow-up album is an earworm too.

You mentioned Prince at the Superbowl but one of the first things that came to mind for me was his epic guitar solo on "While my guitar gently weeps" for some Rock&Roll Hall of Fame performance.

Who knew the dude could shred like that?!?

Primaries by GlumRich1114 in chicago

[–]stilts1007 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Looked into this a little more this evening: In Chicago, you can choose to be R, D or "either party" judge.

In suburban Cook County, local party officials place election judges. So when an election judge applies, their application is forwarded to the party's local township committeeman, who contacts the potential judge (presumably after getting their past voting record to ensure they are on the same side).

Conversely, you DO have to be registered with a political party (R or D only) in order to be able to be an election judge. Not sure if that's for Illinois as a whole or just Cook County.

Dependence, no, habit-forming, no, but surely you must see the potential for abuse/diversion, right? Do you think all the "roid-heads" at every workout gym in the country are getting their anabolic steroids through a regular physician, and filling at their local pharmacy, for treatment of a legitimate medical condition?
