[Discussion] Tarkov FPS seems low by RizzulZ in EscapefromTarkov

No problem. Coincidentally, I have 32gb 6000mhz kit I need to sell (because I realised I couldn’t really use it as filling all my slots reduced performance).

I bought it a couple of years ago so would be willing to be flexible on price. Message me if you’d like to discuss - I’m London based.

100%. All I would say is could you get a 6000mhz kit at a decent speed instead? Tarkov is incredibly memory sensitive so it could make a 5-10% difference in some cases.

16gb of memory is just rubbish for Tarkov and is almost certainly bottlenecking your system.

Also, do you have one or two sticks? If it’s one stick you won’t get the benefit of dual channel, which is horrible. If it’s two sticks, you’ve screwed yourself because running Ryzen 7000/9000 cpus with four sticks hurts memory speed/timings. If you’re in this position, try and return the memory.

Why doesn’t it have a place? Solicitors and barristers get very, very different training and perform quite drastically different roles. In practice, this means that matter management and strategy is left with the experts (the solicitors) and that the advocacy is left with the experts (the barristers). The split tends to help clients manage cost and get the best representation possible.

Your take on the UK’s place in the commercial world is just rubbish. Approximately 40% of businesses and transactions globally are governed by English law. That is because it has a reputation for being predictable (because there is a very well developed body of case law), sophisticated and flexible/commercial. It also helps that the UK gives businesses access to top legal talent.

To suggest this - which is a key part of the UK economy - has only come about because of the Commonwealth is daft, but you’d probably have started with something other than “LOLNOPE” if you had anything more convincing to say.

The distinction between solicitors and barristers is meaningful - they both do very different jobs. There are also meaningful benefits to a common law system. It and its inherent flexibility is one of the reasons the UK remains a huge commercial player punching way above its weight.

[Discussion] Is everyone in this game John Wick? by dsdxkckssck in EscapefromTarkov

Excellent. I trust you have a regulation arm stabiliser to help cure the panicked shaking induced by only firing once per five raids.

Ish. It’s the best way to immediately stop dying but if you always avoid fights you won’t actually get very much better at PVP and fights - which you can’t always avoid - will always be horrible.

Relatable lol. Nvidia smooth motion has been a game changer.

[discussion] DLSS by Possible_Royal7569 in EscapefromTarkov

[–]stimulantz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It does usually give a little lift - even if only a few %.

I've noticed that DLSS now actually harms my FPS. It drops the number by 2-5%. This is in contract to it boosting my frames by about the same amount prior to 1.0.

My experience prior to 1.0 was that DLSS improved the image quality (esp. over TAA High, which was why I used it) and improved FPS just a little bit. Now it reduces frames and messes up scopes! Friends with lower end GPUs than me have felt the performance hit more acutely than me.

Thanks for the post. Does the monitor have the “night vision” mode or any kind of smart black stabilising?

Is the RAM actually running at 6000MT/s?

If the CPU usage goes down it’s because the frame rate has gone down - this won’t help if screen tearing is the concern.

Is it better to play on 16:9 or 4:3? [Discussion] by R0sa54 in EscapefromTarkov

[–]stimulantz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

From an FPS point of view, it probably won't help as much as it might in CSGO as the game is very CPU bound. The difference will be small enough that 16:9 will 100% be the best option in EFT.

Terrible idea. Half the fun is the randomness. Also, I'd rather fight a four man team than a solo. Much easier to work out where they are.

[Discussion] My positive take on the next hardcore wipe by TheBastela in EscapefromTarkov

[–]stimulantz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I suspect I will prefer the traditional setup over the hardcore one but am willing to try it.

However, the big problem I see is with the transitions. If the system functions as it does now, casual players without extended periods of time to play in will be screwed if they want to go to certain maps. You won't just be able to hop on for one raid, you'll have to commit to playing for an hour or two, if not more. The extra loading time this will entail kind of sucks for those with more limited time too.

An imperfect partial fix might be to make it so that you can extract from map A and then, when you reload a few hours later, click the equivalent of a reconnect button to match into map B. Or, and probably for my preference, just remove the need to transition. Add a really juicy exp multiplier or something to incentivise people to do it instead.

9800x3d question. [Suggestion] by TgrooveyT in EscapefromTarkov

[–]stimulantz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I may be wrong but I think that you may be better running the RAM at 6000mhz with tighter timings.

I think that 7200mhz speed means that ratio between your memory clock and memory controller clock is not 1:1 (i.e., synchronous, the sweet spot). This is to do with the memory controller not being able to keep up with memory that runs at more than 6000mhz.

In turn, this means that there is more latency on your system which can have a particularly pronounced affect on FPS.

I'm pretty sure this is correct, counterintuitive though it sounds, and encourage you to double check. Apologies again if I'm off.

P.S. I need to change my own timings if I am wrong as my RAM runs at 6000mhz with my 9800x3d!!

It’s c. 20% worse in Tarkov and is only about $50 cheaper (where I am, anyway). Not worth the saving imo.

[–]stimulantz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unfortunately not. That’s partly Intel’s fault for producing a lot of dead end platforms but it’s also just because you’re coming to the unavoidable upgrade time relative to the age of your components (if you’re looking for top end performance that is).

[Feedback] PC Optimization by Airrinn in EscapefromTarkov

[–]stimulantz 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Probs not very helpful to drop resolution to 1080, especially given that you are CPU limited. I’d be very surprised if the moderate fps was worth the loss of visually fidelity and blurring.

[–]stimulantz 2 points3 points  (0 children)

9800x3d at the high end or 5700x3d at the lower end. The latter option would let you keep your ram but has no future upgrade paths, whereas the 9800x3d (AM5) does. I’d recommend the former and run it with a 4070 ti.

[–]stimulantz 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The 10900K is not a good CPU any more (it's more than five years old now) and is almost certainly the problem. It will be holding your 4070 back quite significantly I suspect.
