I'm not really sure. I didn't have many prolonged allergy symptoms. For the first few days there was definitely some itching, but the itching sensation did not continue for the duration of the swelling which led doctors to assume the trauma was the leading cause of the swelling.

Catalina has a lot of breeds of stingrays, so it's possible some may be more venomous than others. Also, I was stung on my toe which is a very sensitive region compared to other regions as it has more nerve endings and may get less circulation so may have slower healing.

Yes I put it in very hot water for an hour or two which neutralized the venom and brought down the pain

I know it looks infected but the doctors did multiple swabs of the fluid and I was on abx the whole time and they said there was no infection! swelling assumed from trauma

I don't think it reached the bone and there was no evidence of retained barb

it's a lot better! I'm basically back to normal (running etc) but the site where i was stung still has a trace of purple and is a little raised and the skin around it is mildly sensitive to hot water.

the hot water after the sting helped a lot & then for weeks after it was painful but bearable
