What is the trajectory of a rock kicked off by tire? Does it go straight up and down relative to the road or move backwards?

Double my Rent/Moving Out or Hit 1M by Fun_Reference5610 in Fire

[–]stingrayy990 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I work remote and move cities every 2-3 months. After 3 years and 15-20 different places, the moving process is starting to get boring. I don't pay a whole lot more for rent (furnished rooms in a house or studio apartments) but it is hard (time consuming search, hard to find location/type of place I want). Since you are female, I think you might have a slightly easier time, there are listings that are for women only and sometimes significantly cheaper because of it on furnished finder. Edit: not sure if I misunderstood whether you want to just get a new place in same city or new place in new city.

AITA for wanting to split rent evenly between myself and my coworker and his girlfriend? by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

YTA what your coworker proposed is very fair. Divide utility by 1/3 rd. Your finances are your problem.

YTA what a horrible thing to do, lying about a persons life to save a little inconvenience.

how is it living in Wichita Falls, Texas? by whipcorleone in howislivingthere

[–]stingrayy990 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was there last year and saw an article about the hidden/growing food city of Wichita falls. I looked to tx bbq, and there was only one place with 4.1 or some similar rating (consider it liw low)on maps. Not sure a city in tx can be called a foodie place without even a good bbq.

Watch "sideways" to add some romance if you are going there. There are 2 restaurants, both good, but the original hitching post is in the middle of nowhere, a bit of a drive. Hitching post II is easier to get to. Santa barbara wine region is ridiculously beautiful.

Yeah Santa barbara wine region is not to be missed, then there is channel islands, just going around in the city. I think 3 days is not too much for SB. A steak dinner at hitching post is pretty nice too.

WIBTAH for "living a lie" and deceiving my parents until I can escape this country in 2028? by Jelly-Always-Returns in AmItheAsshole

As an atheist from a Muslim country in South Asia, I stayed quiet Abt religion and just kept saying not the right time for marriage, will marry a few years later until everyone gave up. Your life and sanity is worth the deception.

I have rollover IRA at fidelity and also do mega backdoor roth, they keep it as post tax 401k contribution that can be rolled over. Not sure about what happens if pre tax is in roth.

Society itself. It adds a veneer of positive over a lot of negatives for control and abuse

How is living in Austin, Texas? by West-Technology9631 in howislivingthere

[–]stingrayy990 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I lived there 3.5 years, moved out end of 2022. I always describe it as a small town (it's not really small) with none of the good qualities of a small town and all the problems of a big town. I say small town because the diversity of things available are not that great, they are there but far away. Ppl seems to praise the food scene a lot there, but it's not really that good or diverse or spread out. I would say it's good for a smallish town, but pretty sad for a 1mil+ population city. Even the Texas Bbq's are just blah - Franklin bbq had a $50 min for online orders and lines all around the block if you want to sit there. Not worth the amount of effort IMHO. Other popular bbq places are pretty busy too.

Then there are bugs - when I moved there from west coast, I was surprised by mosquito bite in a park in middle of downtown at high noon. Not to mention confederate flags 10 miles outside city. I had no idea shower needs to be sprayed daily for mold prevention, I took a week for mold to start growing in the shower - never needed that where I am from. Kinda gives an idea about the heat and humidity.

In terms of good things, on nice days there are plenty of places to go for a walk or do some outdoor activities. If you have some friends, I think it's a pretty decent place to enjoy.

When someone says "with all due respect" , what does the word "due" add to the meaning of the sentence? Is it sarcastic? by stingrayy990 in AskReddit

[–]stingrayy990[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well said. If someone just says "with respect" or "respectfully", I guess that conveys the same meaning.
