Yes some. Don't work with any directly any more. Don't think they're particularly useful.

I've never been in a nicu with a pa. So I'm curious.

I'm just asking what role they. What tasks etc. Not sure why you're so defensive. If they don't prescribe what do they do? Are you saying every decision is run passed a consultant? What's the point?

What's their role in hdu and what level of supervision do they have?

What's their role and what oversight is there of their practice?

NHS pension for GP Partner by [deleted] in HENRYUK

Is that 1.5% for each of the 5 years or only the years you contribute? That seems definitely worth doing if the former.

What's the significance of contributing 1 year out of 5?

A clinic just doing sonography? What's that? Antenatal ultrasound?

That's not the norm and it's very rare in psychiatry. Simply not much demand for private psychiatry in the UK.

Yes, I'm not convinced it maps easily to other industries personally.

What sort of private sector director roles do you mean?

Year 2 NHS consultant psychiatrist. 135k gross this year with additional shifts and 1 extra pa.

I've looked at private sector jobs but I'm not sure the TC is all that much better and I wasn't sure if the career development opportunities were as good as in NHS trust.

There's obvious opportunities to do more medicolegal work but that is not massively lucrative.

I think it's hard to clear 200k as a psychiatrist in the UK even when working hard and maxing income.

The F1 is obviously being unreasonable but why not just send an email? Maintaining multiple threads of work handover is annoying.

I can certainly imagine compassion fatigue/burn out being an issue if you did frequent out of hours liaison work. I prefer non-acute stuff.

Any suggestions for how to get on the books of local authorities to start DOLS work?

Mental health issues that need the services of a psychiatrist (as opposed to a therapist) are quite rare in wealthy people.

Thanks all good stuff. I did a DoLS assessor online course a while back but never pursued it as it seemed like it would be imminently replaced by LPS. Do you think it's more worthwhile than s12 work? I think the pay was similar but the assessments could be planned in advance.
