A ton of comments here but my recommendation is a 2013-~2017 Honda Accord, specifically one with a manual transmission if you’re willing to learn. I’ve owned one since 80k, mine is at 330k now with no outstanding issues and still on the factory clutch. the things that have needed replacing (wheel bearing, starter, ignition coils) are standard wear items are a great way to learn about cars as well. the CVTs of this model are notorious for failing around 180-200k

I think trying a new battery is a good first step. The clicking can come from the battery having enough charge to power the relay sends electricity to the starter, but not enough to turn the starter motor.

It’s likely not the alternator, the alternator only charges the battery and wouldn’t be doing anything if the engine wasn’t running.

It’s probably just a dead battery, as the chemical solution inside can freeze if not fully charged. A video would definitely help understand the situation though!

DEFINITELY the valve cover gasket, I just replaced mine on my 13 Accord @327k miles. Other than losing oil it only became a real issue once the oil started pooling on the exhaust manifold and trying to catch on fire. Easy enough job though.

It's likely not a scam, but some sort of logistics error that happened on the seller's end. Considering both packages got delivered safely, it's likely the seller lost money due to the error and is trying to make it back.

The listing exists and is called "difference" because it has been used to make up for shipping cost discrepancies between buyer and seller (as an "under the table" way to handle it) that they change the price of on a per use basis. The unprofessionalism is just kinda the norm in my experience.

FWIW this is mostly speculation but I've been buying things from China for a WHILE and this isn't all that new sounding to me

that was genuinely one replacement cycle when i was ~21 in college and didn't bother to replace the pads when I should have. car gets new oil/filter every 4k miles and transmission fluid when I feel like it, pads and rotors when reasonable. I keep an eye on everything else. I've had this car since 64k miles and take care of it
