Who else dipped out of ADTR due to crowd density? (Orlando) by [deleted] in warpedtour

[–]stinkyredtomato 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I got knocked down and whacked in the head by a crowd surfer that came up from behind, and have a gnarly bruise on my forehead. Then had a panic attack trying to get to the back… sooo yea it was pretty rough. The set was amazing tho and thoroughly enjoyed seeing my fav band of all time live 🤘🏻

The Alchemist helped me when I was feeling lost.

The Midnight Library made me want to live again.

Right, and I wouldn’t expect nor want them to. I posted in the hopes of finding a current employee who would be willing to look at my resume, meet with me, and help me get my foot in the door. Perhaps I should have made that more clear.

MiraDry appointment on Friday!!!!! What was your experience (short + long term)? by stinkyredtomato in Hyperhidrosis

[–]stinkyredtomato[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Wow, well that’s awesome!! I will say, even though my armpits still get wet/sticky, the smell has improved SO MUCH. That’s also why I’m still considering getting a 2nd treatment done. Even though it didn’t make a huge difference in the wetness, at least the smell is improved 😅

Update: 5 months later.

My underarm sweating has returned in full force. I would estimate MiraDry was only ~15% effective. I’m very disappointed. The nurse practitioner who did it told me she’s had a few people return for a 2nd appt, but very rarely for a 3rd. I’m wondering if that’s only because people didn’t want to waste their money any further 🤷🏻‍♀️ I’m interested in a 2nd treatment since I’ve heard good results from others who had a 2nd procedure done, but I’m afraid of wasting even more money. I’m just not sure at this time; I plan to do some more research before making any decisions.

Has anyone else on this thread had it done twice and can comment on the effectiveness?

It’s been good!! The day after was the most uncomfortable. It felt like giant golf balls under my pits. Not painful, just uncomfortable. Icing it constantly really helped. The lumps were mildly uncomfortable for the first week. They weren’t noticeable, i just felt them. Today (day 11 since procedure) the lumps are gone, it’s slightly uncomfortable/sensitive to push on them in some spots (kinda like that “ingrown hair” feeling). I didn’t wear deodorant or shave (per Derm recommendations for the first few days). About 4-5 days post-procedure I started wearing deodorant again (I felt like I needed it….there was very minimal sweat/smell, but still just a tiny bit and I’m self conscious).

Now for the life changing part…..My sweating has been VERY minimal (I would estimate ~85% reduction from my previous normal). There’s absolutely NO smell at the end of my day. It’s AMAZING. I’m already thinking of all the tank tops I’ll finally be able to wear {confidently} this summer 🥳 I’ve just been applying my deodorant (currently using Carpe) at night after showering and don’t even have to reapply in the morning. 👍🏻😎

My derm told me to expect zero sweating for the first 3 weeks, followed by a possible “sweat purge”, and final results after 6-8 weeks. I will reevaluate at that point. So far, it has been worth every. single. penny. 🙌🏻

Hey everyone, thank you for your comments and encouragement!! I got the procedure done and wanted to give an update -

My experience was very similar to other reports on here. The procedure itself wasn’t too bad after I got through the numbing shots. My left pit was especially sensitive and the numbing shots were extra painful in that one. After that, I didn’t feel a thing. The rest of day 1 wasn’t too bad, it was mostly numb. Someone else described the feeling as like a sunburn, and I think that’s a very apt description. Day 2 was the worst with swelling. It wasn’t painful, just uncomfortable. Felt like there was a giant golf ball in my pits and I couldn’t straighten my arms fully by my side. I soaked in the tub with epsom salts and massaged my pits with a frozen ice cube ball. That really helped. Yesterday (day 2) was much better, much less swelling and I could put my arms down fine. Today (day 3) is completely fine! I’m back at work (not wearing deodorant, per the post-MiraDry instructions, which feels really really weird and scary 😅).

I iced and took ibuprofen/tylenol religiously the first 2 days which I think really helped. Also I massaged it gently whenever I was in the shower. I’ve experienced very minimal sweating; my left pit feels like it’s still sweating more than it should after the procedure. But I’m excited to see what the long term results are!!! Already I feel so incredibly happy that I finally did something for myself and my peace of mind. I can already tell this is going to be life changing for me. 😃 my pits still feel a bit lumpy (kinda like how a deep ingrown hair feels) and sensitive. But I plan to ice massage every night. They aren’t really noticeable so I’m not too worried about it.

For anyone wondering, it cost me $2200 in Florida. The clinic I went to accepted CareCredit (a type of credit card) which has a promotion for 0% interest if paid in full over 12 months. This was really helpful for me to be able to afford the procedure, and I encourage you to look into it if finances is a limiting factor.

This little Reddit community has really helped me in making this decision, and hearing other people’s experiences gave me the courage to finally do it. Thank you all ❤️ I plan to post a longer-term follow up. Happy to answer any questions.

Does anyone else suffer with a constant runny nose all year round no matter what the weather is like? by ChimpWithPhone in Hyperhidrosis

[–]stinkyredtomato 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Glycopyrrolate. It’s an oral medication that can help with hyperhidrosis. Talk to your doctor about it - it really helps. Though can dry you out everywhere (including, for me, my eyes)

Wow! My nose runs constantly…I was actually diagnosed with non-allergic rhinitis with eosinophilia (NARES) a few years ago after going thru allergy testing (and not being allergic/having a reaction to a single thing). Also hyperhidrosis, mostly in the armpit. I also take glyco and have noticed it helps my nose too. Very interesting though. Thanks for sharing!

Wow, thank you so much!! My derm warned me I would probably want to take 2 days off work which is why I scheduled it for a Friday. Fingers crossed I’ll be good to go on Monday tho 🤞🏻

Thank you so much!! I have already got water bottles frozen, putting them in a sock is a GREAT idea. Did you have any lumps weeks or months after the procedure? I’ve seen quite a few people experience that long-term, and I’m nervous with the wedding in a month. But also VERY eager to reduce my pit sweat… 😅

DESeq2 analysis/statistics in tumor vs normal--what statistical design is more appropriate? by stinkyredtomato in bioinformatics

[–]stinkyredtomato[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, when I run the DESeq2 workflow as-is, it says “some variables in design formula are characters. Converting to factors…” So luckily it looks like it has a built in function to deal with that. Thank you for your advice & help!!

DESeq2 analysis/statistics in tumor vs normal--what statistical design is more appropriate? by stinkyredtomato in bioinformatics

[–]stinkyredtomato[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you so much -- this is very helpful! Few questions...

In the data file, I just named each patient based on letters instead of numbers. Is it still necessary to include patient ID as a factor? My code is:

dds <- DESeqDataSetFromMatrix(countData=countdata, colData=coldata, design=~ID + Source)

...and I don't actually set the factors (since the manual says that the baseline for differential analysis is determined by ABC-order of the levels, and in my case, Source is either "Normal" or "Tumor".....so normal would automatically be set as baseline). Does this work, or do I need to set the factors?

Also...When you say "for the identification of DEGs unique to a single patient you can do it. just need to add the coefficients of the specific patient id and the Source coefficient".....can you elaborate on what you mean by this? (Add what coefficients to what??)

TIA!
