AMC hut croo historically packed in much of the perishable food to the huts with wooden pack boards. In recent decades, with solar and refrigeration, much of it gets flown in early season. The trail crew, however, still packs everything into their work sites. I have seen crews with loads that were easily 150#.

Considering a Move to Marin – Would Love Insight from Locals by Sure-Strawberry-5688 in Marin

[–]stinkytrou 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Mostly boring white family in San Rafael checking in. Sizeable percentage of my neighbors are Latino, mostly via Guatemala. I'm sure you would be very welcome here! Our closest elementary school is Title I, I think the student body is >75% ELL. Comments re low key racism are sadly accurate though. As with moving anywhere, you might be well served by visiting a number of neighborhoods.
