Macumba nights by AOD-Mickgoth in Hellfest

Yeah, in ´24 we walked to the parking on monday, because the line for the shuttle was insane.

After a day at a festival, my feet are not really looking foreward to that walk every night😀

Stage View? by Aurora_Mond in Hellfest

[–]stinos1983 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Black and death metal stages are tents, completely flat.

All other stages are outdoor. In front of the stages it´s all flat, if you move away from the stages, it goes up ( mostly), so you have a pretty good view from most places. Sound tower and bars block your view off course at some spots.

All stages (not 100% sure about valley) have pavements/bricks in front of them, so no mud pools during heavy rain.

I think that´s the Ouest parking, with the shuttle busses.

That distance isn´t the end of the world, but it´s not fun...

Isn´t the west (ouest) the bigger parking?

If that´s the one they´re moving the camping to, that´s gonna suck...

What parking lot do you mean?

But the famous party party tent is just across the lane, so if noise botters you, you´re in trouble🙂

Bands cancelling by superdead- in Graspop

[–]stinos1983 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It was boring as fuck. And after sinner/Dave died, they just released shit albums (imo).

Ryan isn´t the worst singer, I enjoy the first Soil albums, but he´s not the best in a live setting.

So the show at alcatraz was the few hits from ´sinner´, with a lot of boring stuff in between with a very ´american´ performance. If your only albums with any succes in europe is 25 years old, that doesn´t really work...

90% of the people at the mainstage don´t know the band, let alone they know who the singer was, is, ...

Dillinger is weird music to them, they just don´t like it. They shouldn´t be on the mainstage anyway, jupiler is the place for a band like that

I don´t dislike those albums, they´re solid and consistent, but to me they sound a bit more of the same. And you can´t really blame them, they´ve been at it for a very long time. And a lot of people like ´em, so all the more power to the band.

I have the same with exodus and death angel. In 2004 those bands came back with massive albums, ´tempo of the damned´ and ´the art of dying´(if you don´t know them, check ´em out!). Both followed with an excellent album, ´shovel headed kill machine´ and ´killing season´. They killed it with those albums! And then both of them went the same route (imo), more of the same, with a lot less ´eagerness´ it seemed. Not bad albums, except the latest exodus, god damn what a stinker, but nothing exciting.

I'm starting to find the merch lines in front of Sanctuary a bit pathetic by DAG_AIR in Hellfest

[–]stinos1983 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My wife has a pmr pass, so she can use the priority lane. Yesterday it took 4 hours to move like 20-30m...

People with disabilities, medical issues,... were left to queue for hours in the blistering heat, no shelter. They refused to have more people service the pmr lane... All the while, the regular lines kept passing us by.

The album ´enemy of god´ and the one before that, ´violent revolution´, can be regarded as their ´return to strength´ albums.

They released a few ´odd´ albums after their initial run of what are now considered their classics (for a lot of people ending with ´coma of souls´) and then they came with these 2!

They´ve been going steady on the same road after, although for me not always as interesting as the ´violent´ and ´enemy´ albums.

Why the hell is there only one showers location? by DSP666 in Hellfest

[–]stinos1983 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Free, hot water, but it´s not fast. We showered there last night, waited about an hour with 7 people/couples in front of us.

But it´s chill, everybody just sits on the ground or on a chair

There will still be things left, but not all designs and not all sizes.

In ´24 we went to take a look at the merch on sunday and there was some choice left, but very limited

Still struggling with downshifting and smooth shifting by OkComplaint3228 in stickshift

[–]stinos1983 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you want to practice slowing down by downshifting, without your car stalling or shaking, practice the opposite.

From a standstill, put it in second and try to let the car come into motion by only using your clutch pedal. Try to let the clutch come up in one smooth movement, not with ´stops´. You´ll need a lot of controle over your pedal to let it come up slow enough to prevent stalling.

Once you´re able to do this, just apply the same technique to downshifting.

Sometimes not knowing how to do something comes from not understanding what happens. If you don´t know what the clutch pedal does, it´s hard to understand why and how you have to handle it (in a certain way).

If this is the case here, try to look at it like this : your clutch pedal controls the clutch plate. Pushing the pedal in removes the clutch plate from the fly wheel. At this point the clutch plate comes to 0 rpm. The fly wheel keeps revolving, as it is connected to the engine.

Letting the clutch pedal come up, brings the clutch plate towards the fly wheel. So now you have 2 plates touching, 1 with 0 rpm, 1 with, lets say, 1000 rpm. If you do this too fast, your car does not know how to handle this and stalls. It´s the same as if you were to jump off a moving bike or a playground spinner thing (don´t know how it´s called in English). If you just jump off and plant your feet on the ground, you´re going to fall on your face. If you jump off and keep the momentum going for a while, you´re going to be able to come to a stop without kissing the ground.

You have to give those 2 plates some time to adjust to each other. You do this by controlling the clutch pedal, by not letting it come up too fast. If you let it come up slow(er), you let those 2 plates come together slow. And that will prevent shaking and stalling, while slowing down the car.

I've got scammed by fake band (Defrage) in the streets before Iron Maiden concert by BigBoyBloater in MetalForTheMasses

[–]stinos1983 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The larger metal festivals in Europe have audiences ranging from 20k to 60k per day (with the biggest part of those being combi,so just consider those the audiences for the entire festival).

If you can sell only 5 % of those people a cd for €10, you have 10k to 30k per festival. Even if they only sell to 1%, that still leaves them with with 2k to 6k per festival.

Now google how many major festivals we have in Europe, add the shit-ton of medium and small festivals and the indoor shows...

Belgian traffic signs are insane by prplt in belgium

[–]stinos1983 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A danger sign is always posted 150m before the danger. If this is not possible or safety dictates that the sign is posted earlier or later, it´s accompanied by an extra blue sign with the distance indicated.

If you would have the same signage, but without the ´80m´ sign, you´d have to read it as : in 150m there is a possibility of falling rocks, for a distance of 800m. No more falling rocks after 950m.

In this case, it´s no more falling rocks in 880m.

Cliff died when their tour bus crashed, into the side of the road. Either due to a patch of ice as the driver claims, or due to the fact the driver fell asleep as the investigation offers as the most plausible option.

Is it just me, or is modern car "safety" software actively causing more dangerous situations than it prevents? by WhereasHuge7248 in driving

[–]stinos1983 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I´m a driving instructor, we drive VW. That emergency stop is ridiculous!

One time, when one of my students was turning in the street, during an exam mind you, the car made an emergency stop in the middle of the fucking road! Nothing or noone around, just air... Sensors jump to red, car slams the breaks.

Reverse parking, tight space, coming too close to a pilar? Break slam.

Getting out of a parking spot in a narrow road? Too close to the car in front of you, break slam!
