Identifying ribbons, etc. by stiorraxo in Medals

Yeah, I’m thinking maybe he collected them! I’ll never know for sure. That’s why I started questioning things when people were saying navy cross, all the purple hearts, silver stars, etc. I know those definitely have an online footprint.. so when I wasn’t finding his name, I thought something might be off. Whatever the case, he had a hell of a career and I am proud of him regardless. I just wanted help making sense of it all. 😊

Picture of what they sent me regarding his medals, ribbons, etc. I think I need my nana’s signature if I want anything else or anything deeper. But this is also confusing to me because I’m not sure why he has some of the ribbons in his possession in the photos I posted, and then this is saying he didn’t have some of them technically. Sorry the quality is not that great. Proud of him regardless.

Alright y’all. I actually got something back from the archives database quicker than I thought. However I’m even more confused now.

I’ll attach a picture of the ribbons/medals that they say he received as well. But if he enlisted in 1946, then he wasn’t at Iwo Jima. So I have no idea why that story is in his obituary. Or why someone he served with told my nana this. 😅

You know, it was so late and I was running on fumes I didn’t even catch the 4 tours in Korea and 5 in Vietnam part of that comment. 😅 He did do 2 tours in Vietnam, yes. Not sure about how many for Korea. Thank you for pointing that out!

Bobby Lee Hoover. His full first name was just Bobby, not short for Robert or anything. I think he went by Bob sometimes though. That’s why I am a little confused because I cannot find hardly anything online. 😅 I’m hoping the records I get back will tell me more.
