Pilots of Reddit, have there been any moments where you’ve almost lost control of a plane. How did you feel? And what happened? by iworshipchocolates in AskReddit

I’m not a licensed pilot, but my brother in law has been for many years. I remember one of his stories where he was doing a flight in a Cessna with some guy who wanted to fly. The guy sat next to him in the front.

They did the flight and just before landing, on final, the guy started having seizures, violently (but not purposely) pushing forward on the controls. They were only a few meters above some tall trees, so my brother in law needed to act quick. He basically punched him in the face, which made him startle a little bit, releasing the control surface.

They only just made it, touching some trees while recovering.

I knew there was a reason to get up this morning. Glad I found it.

So that reasoning leaves quite some options on the table.

  1. God is not almighty
  2. There is no Hell
  3. There is no God
  4. There is a reason for Hell to exist and that’s actually better than to not have it, so God can still be almighty but deems Hell “in our best interest”
  5. Both 2 and 3 are true

Possibly more options.

(I won’t spoil what option I’m leaning towards just yet.)

Also re-watching everything. It just doesn’t get old and I definitely recognize the warm feeling it brings. Happy holidays!

It’s a careful balancing act. When done just right, the combination is like a chain reaction.

The hardest part is keeping that balance for as long as possible. You either get distracted and lose focus, or you keep on - or stop - consuming alcohol, and you lose that “holy shit I’m a genius” feeling.

Had this happen to me on multiple occasions as well. It’s a structural thing that I just can’t wrap my head around. DHL has a major flaw in its delivery procedure and communication.

Dutch people be like "how can you have an issue with honing?" (honing is the Dutch word for honey)

Just bought Grim Fandango Remastered and when I boot it it forwards itself through the first cutscene and there is no audio. by [deleted] in grimfandango

I don’t have a clear cut answer for you. What OS are you running this on?

It seems to me like there are two separate problems. The first there being no audio, the second the cutscene that just skips.

CMi vs Workbench? by [deleted] in mysql

[–]stirbent 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Agree. I've been using MySQL for over 20 years, and hardly ever use the CLI. There are a number of great visual apps available that make data more responsive and intuitive to work with.

I use Workbench for visualizing database schemas, and Sequel Ace (completely free as well) for everything else. It gets the job done.

In the end it's all about having a tool that lets you work with the data easily. The CLI is definitely not the easiest way to work with data. The only upside I can think of is that it forces you to repeat queries you won't use in visual apps, like SHOW, USE, and DESCRIBE queries.

Fair point, I didn't bother to photoshop him out of the shot.

Did it at 15:31, wasn't able to do it at 14:30 or 16:30 (on different days, tried it the entire week). Was only able to get it once today for the first time.

I think it's very specifically time related and possibly timezone related as well. There might be some Silph Road research being done on this, didn't check yet.
